Amanda and Danny’s engagement session was a full-on date night, the fun kind.
We met up at the Garage Arcade Bar in South Bend, played some games, grabbed a few drinks, and captured a ton of real laughs in between the portraits.
Starting at an arcade bar is always a win because it gives you something to do right away.
No awkward “what do we do with our hands?” moments. You’re playing games, moving around, reacting in real time, and the photos feel natural because you’re focused on each other, not the camera.
Amanda and Danny were comfortable right away, which made the whole session feel effortless.
This session had the best kind of energy.
A little friendly competition, a little “okay you definitely cheated” joking, and the kind of laughter you can’t fake. That’s exactly what makes arcade sessions so good.
We captured a mix of playful action shots while they played, plus a handful of relaxed portraits that still fit the vibe of the space.
If you’re nervous about photos, this is one of the easiest ways to make the session feel comfortable.
When you’re doing something together, the camera becomes background noise. Your gallery ends up feeling like your relationship, not like a posing tutorial.
And bonus, it makes the session genuinely fun, which is kind of the whole point.
1) Pick a spot you’d actually go on a date.
If it feels normal for you two, the photos will feel natural too.
2) Go for outfits that match the vibe.
Casual and cool is perfect for arcade bars. Layers photograph great in low light too.
3) Embrace the chaos.
Arcade sessions are supposed to be a little messy and loud. The reactions are the best part.
If you want engagement photos that feel fun, personal, and actually like your real life together, an arcade bar session is such a good move.
Bring us your favorite spots and we’ll help you build a session that feels like a night out, not a checklist.
