Kayle and Jacob’s engagement session was simple in the best way.
No crowds, no rushing, no big production. Just the two of them in a backyard setting that felt comfortable and familiar, which is always where the most natural photos happen.
Backyard sessions are one of our favorite options for couples who want their photos to feel real.
You get a meaningful location, a relaxed pace, and the freedom to just be yourselves. It’s also perfect if you want to include little details that actually reflect your day-to-day life together.
We treated this session like hanging out.
A little walking around the yard, a few spots with good light, and plenty of time for those in-between moments. Backyard sessions always bring out the best candids because you’re not in a new environment trying to figure out what to do.
Kayle and Jacob were totally at ease, and it made the gallery feel warm, personal, and full of genuine moments.
Locations that matter to you always photograph better.
A backyard might sound simple, but it’s packed with meaning. It’s where you actually live life together. And years from now, those photos are going to hit even harder because they reflect a real season of your story.
1) Pick a few “spots” ahead of time.
A tree line, a fence, a porch, a garden, an open patch of lawn. A little variety goes a long way.
2) Don’t stress about perfection.
You don’t need a magazine-ready yard. We just need decent light and a little space.
3) Make it personal.
Bring a drink, include your pets, play music, or do something you’d normally do together. Those details make the photos feel like you.
If you want an engagement session that feels relaxed and personal, backyard sessions are an awesome option.
We’ll guide you through everything, keep it comfortable, and capture a gallery that feels like you two from start to finish.
