Missy and Dave’s engagement session at Potato Creek State Park was peak cozy.
They rented a cabin in the park and basically turned their session into a laid-back little weekend date. Which is exactly the kind of energy we love to photograph.
Cabin sessions are undefeated if you want photos that feel real.
You get warm, homey moments inside, then you step outside and you’ve got instant nature, trails, trees, and that quiet “we’re out here together” vibe.
No rushing around town. No awkward crowd dodging. Just you two, a great location, and plenty of space to breathe.
We started around the cabin to grab those relaxed, comfortable photos that feel like a snapshot of real life.
Think windows with soft light, snuggling up together, laughing at the in-between moments, and letting the cabin’s vibe do the heavy lifting.
This part always sets the tone, because once you’ve warmed up a bit, everything outside feels even easier.
After that, we headed out for a little exploring. Nothing complicated, just wandering, stopping when the light looked good, and letting them be themselves.
Potato Creek gives you that perfect mix of tall trees, trails, and simple backdrops that make the photos feel timeless.
Missy and Dave kept it fun, close, and natural, which is basically the whole goal.
1) Pick a cabin that feels like you.
Cozy, modern, rustic, whatever fits your vibe. The space sets the tone for the whole session.
2) Bring one easy “activity.”
Coffee on the porch, a blanket, a board game, a vinyl record, a bottle of something you both like. It gives your hands something to do and makes the candids happen naturally.
3) Pack for the trail, not just the photo.
Boots you can walk in, a jacket that looks good, and layers you can add or remove. Comfort matters and it shows in the photos.
If you’re thinking about engagement photos and you want something cozy, personal, and not overly posed, a cabin session is such a good move.
Give us your vibe and your location, and we’ll help you build a plan that feels easy and looks incredible.
