Maria and Peter’s Chicago engagement session was the best kind of variety. Big city energy, lakefront views, and then a total vibe shift into soft, quiet garden moments.
We started in downtown Chicago, headed to Navy Pier, then wrapped things up at a botanical garden for that peaceful, nature-filled finish.
Downtown Chicago always delivers. Clean lines, bold textures, and a ton of spots where the light bounces perfectly between buildings.
Maria and Peter were locked in from the start, so we kept the session moving in a way that felt natural. A little walking, a few stops for portraits, and plenty of room for the candid moments that happen when you two are just hanging out together.
Then we hit Navy Pier for that classic Chicago lakefront look. Open sky, Lake Michigan stretching out behind them, and that instantly recognizable backdrop that screams “Chicago” without you needing to explain anything.
This part of the session felt extra fun because everything opens up. You can breathe, move, and let the photos feel effortless. We grabbed a mix of wide scenic shots and closer portraits with that lake breeze energy.
To finish, we shifted into a botanical garden for a softer, more romantic vibe.
Greenery changes the whole feel of a gallery. It’s quieter, more intimate, and it gives you those timeless portraits that feel like you could hang them in your home forever.
Maria and Peter settled into that pace perfectly, and the last stretch of the session ended up being some of our favorite images.
1) Pick locations with different “looks.”
Downtown gives you modern and bold, Navy Pier gives you lakefront and skyline energy, and a botanical garden gives you soft and romantic. Variety without feeling random.
2) Keep travel time realistic.
If you want three locations, plan it like a smooth route, not a race across the city. Less time in the car means more time actually shooting.
3) Bring one small reset item.
Water, a lint roller, comfy shoes for walking between spots, and a quick touch-up option if the wind does what the wind does.
If you want engagement photos that feel like a full-on date day, with a mix of iconic views and personal moments, we’re in.
Tell us what kind of vibe you want, city, lake, nature, or all three, and we’ll help you build a plan that feels easy and looks incredible.
