Zach and Justin’s engagement session was the best kind of two-in-one.
We kicked things off in Chicago with that city energy, then shifted gears and finished in Saugatuck for a calmer lakeshore vibe. It felt like a mini getaway, and their gallery ended up with variety that still felt cohesive.
Chicago always brings the drama in the best way.
You get bold architecture, clean lines, and that “we’re out in the city together” feeling that instantly makes photos feel modern and alive. We kept it moving, found great light, and focused on natural interaction so the portraits felt real, not staged.
Then we headed to Saugatuck and everything slowed down in the best way.
More open space, softer scenery, and that lakeshore calm that lets you breathe a little. The contrast between the two locations was perfect, because the second half felt peaceful and intimate after the buzz of the city.
Doing Chicago plus Saugatuck gives you a full story instead of one single look.
City textures and movement, then soft, scenic backdrops. It’s a great option if you want variety in your gallery and you also want the session to feel like an experience you did together.
1) Plan two outfits.
One that fits the city vibe, then one that feels relaxed for the lakeshore.
2) Keep locations simple.
A couple key spots in each place is plenty. More variety does not have to mean more chaos.
3) Treat it like a day together.
Walk, talk, laugh, stay close. We’ll guide you when you need it, but the best photos happen when you’re just being you.
If you love the idea of city energy and lakeshore calm in the same engagement story, we’re all in.
Tell us what places feel like you two, and we’ll help plan a session that flows naturally and looks incredible from start to finish.
