Dana and Noah’s engagement session at Oak Park in Grand Ledge was the kind of September session we love.
Not full-blown fall yet, but you can feel it starting. Slightly cooler air, softer light, and that early hint of seasonal change that makes everything look clean and natural.
Oak Park is a great spot when you want something scenic and simple, and September is a really underrated month to photograph there.
The park has open space, trails, and plenty of greenery, which keeps the focus on the two of you while still giving your gallery variety.
We treated this session like a casual walk together.
Stopping when the light looked good, grabbing a few classic portraits, then letting Dana and Noah just be themselves in between. That movement keeps everything relaxed, and it’s usually where the best candid moments show up.
September gives you a little bit of everything.
The light is softer than midsummer, the temperature is more comfortable, and you start getting those subtle early fall tones without the crowds and chaos that can come later in the season.
1) Bring a light layer.
September weather can shift quickly, and layers photograph great too.
2) Wear shoes you can walk in.
Trail sessions are best when we can move around comfortably.
3) Keep outfits classic.
Neutrals and earthy tones blend beautifully with late-summer/early-fall scenery.
If you want engagement photos that feel relaxed, outdoorsy, and true to you, Oak Park is a great option in Grand Ledge.
We’ll keep it comfortable, guide the flow, and capture a gallery that feels like a real day together.
