Some wedding days feel like a perfectly planned party. This one felt like a whole dang community showing up.
Lauren and Matt’s Goshen wedding was equal parts heartfelt and hype, with a packed guest list, a classic Catholic ceremony, and a reception that was built for dancing, celebrating, and soaking in the fact that they finally got to do this.
And yes, the vibe was exactly what they promised: Faithful, Fun, & Funky.
Lauren’s morning started at Eyedart Creative Studio, right in the middle of Goshen, which made everything feel instantly “we’re doing this here, in our town, with our people.”
Matt and the guys got rolling at Maple City Conference & Event Center, with the kind of energy you’d expect from a crew that can talk Notre Dame football and dive bars like it’s a competitive sport.
Once everyone was dressed, buttoned up, and ready to roll, the day naturally shifted into that calm-before-the-ceremony feeling where everything gets quiet for a second and you realize, “Oh. This is real.”
Lauren and Matt chose to wait until the ceremony to see each other, and with a traditional Catholic Mass at St. John the Evangelist, it fit the moment perfectly.
They also went unplugged, which we love because it changes the whole room. People are actually present, actually watching, actually reacting. No screens in the aisle, no phones popping up over shoulders, just full attention on what’s happening.
And when you’ve got that many people in the room, that kind of focus hits different.
After the ceremony, we hit the portrait portion of the day the way Goshen weddings should be done.
Downtown alleys for the grit and texture, Goshen Brewing Company for the hometown flavor, and Common Spirits for that cool, modern edge. It was the perfect mix of classic and fun, which is basically Lauren and Matt in wedding form.
If you’re planning a Goshen wedding and you want photos that feel like your actual life, downtown is always the move.
Maple City Conference & Event Center was exactly what Lauren and Matt wanted: a big open space that could hold all their people and still feel like a party.
They kicked things off with a wedding party entrance that hinted at a “Starry Eyed” surprise vibe, then Lauren and Matt hit the floor for their first dance to “A Sky Full of Stars” by Coldplay, which is such a solid choice if you want romantic but still upbeat.
From there, the night had that perfect rhythm. Guests circulating, drinks flowing, groups forming and reforming, the dance floor pulling people back in again and again. The kind of reception where you keep looking around thinking, “Yep, this is exactly how it should feel.”
If you’re inviting 200+ people, build in a little breathing room for yourselves after the ceremony. Even a short pocket of time for portraits downtown, a quiet minute together, or just a reset before cocktail hour can keep the whole day feeling fun instead of frantic.
Big weddings are amazing. They just move fast.
