Erin and Michael’s fall engagement session in New Buffalo had everything we love in one easy storyline.
Start with cozy drinks at Beer Church, make a quick stop at Oinks, then head to the beach for Lake Michigan views and that crisp fall air vibe.
New Buffalo is a perfect engagement session spot when you want a mix of “let’s go do something fun” and “let’s get some killer portraits.”
It’s walkable, full of personality, and the lake is always right there when you want to end with something scenic and timeless.
We kicked things off at Beer Church, which is basically built for date-night photos.
Warm textures, great atmosphere, and the kind of spot that helps couples relax fast because you’re doing something together. We grabbed a mix of portraits and candid moments here that felt natural and unforced.
Next up, Oinks.
This is exactly why we love engagement sessions that include little stops like this. It adds personality, gives you something to do, and the photos instantly feel like your actual life together. Plus, it’s hard to beat the fun energy of grabbing a treat in the middle of a session.
Then we headed to the beach to wrap things up with Lake Michigan views.
Fall beach sessions are underrated. The light is softer, there are usually fewer people, and the whole shoreline feels calmer. We kept it relaxed, walked the sand, and captured a mix of scenic wide shots and close-up portraits to round out their gallery.
1) Plan for two vibes.
Beer Church is cozy and elevated. The beach is relaxed and breezy. Outfits that work in both are the move, or bring a quick change.
2) Bring a light layer.
Fall by the lake can get chilly fast, and layers photograph great.
3) Expect wind at the beach.
It’s part of the vibe. We’ll work with it and make it look intentional.
If you want an engagement session that feels like a real date, with a mix of cozy spots and lakeshore views, New Buffalo is such a good choice.
We’ll help plan the flow and capture photos that feel like you two, start to finish.
