Rune and Stephen’s engagement session was the perfect kind of “this is what we actually do together.”
We started at a local gaming store in Elkhart, and yes, they ripped Pokémon packs during their session. It was fun, chaotic, and honestly a genius way to get real reactions without forcing anything.
If you love games, cards, or anything even slightly nerdy, this kind of engagement session is a total win.
It gives you built-in interaction. You’re flipping through shelves, laughing, talking, and doing something together that actually feels like you. That’s how you get photos that feel natural and personal.
This part was so fun.
The pack-opening moment is instant reactions, anticipation, laughs, and that little competitive energy when someone pulls something better. It’s playful, it’s real, and it gave us the kind of candid images that you can’t fake.
Rune and Stephen were fully in it, and the photos ended up feeling like a real date day together.
Sessions like this are proof that engagement photos don’t have to be generic.
When you build your session around something you genuinely enjoy, you’re automatically more relaxed. And when you’re relaxed, the photos hit harder. We still captured clean, classic portraits, but the story moments are what made this one feel uniquely theirs.
1) Pick a store you actually love.
A familiar spot makes the session feel more comfortable and personal.
2) Bring something interactive.
Pokémon packs, a favorite board game, dice, cards. Anything that creates real moments.
3) Keep outfits clean and simple.
Solid colors and simple layers photograph great in indoor lighting and let the store vibe shine.
If you want engagement photos that feel fun, personal, and not like everyone else’s, do something you actually love doing together.
Game stores, arcades, coffee shops, breweries, parks, home sessions, whatever fits your story. We’ll help you plan it and capture it in a way that feels natural from start to finish.
