Taylor and Nigel’s wedding day at Battell Park in Mishawaka was the kind of celebration that felt simple in the best way.
Good people, relaxed energy, and a day that didn’t try to be anything other than what it was, a fun, meaningful “we’re doing this” kind of wedding.
Battell Park is one of those spots that just works for couples who want something outdoorsy and natural without making the day feel complicated.
You get greenery, open space, and that easygoing park feel that keeps everyone relaxed.
It’s the perfect backdrop for real moments, because nobody’s stressing about being “too perfect.”
Taylor and Nigel brought a calm, confident energy that made everything flow.
Not the performative kind, either. More like, “we’re excited, we’re here, and we’re going to enjoy the hell out of this day” energy.
That’s when the candid moments show up nonstop, the glances, the laughs, the little check-ins with each other, all the stuff that actually matters.
We carved out time for portraits that felt natural, not stiff.
A little direction to keep things looking clean and flattering, and then we let them be themselves.
The best frames always happen in between, when you’re not thinking about the camera and you’re just hanging out with the person you just married.
As the day rolled on, you could feel the energy build.
The hugs got tighter. The laughs got louder. The group energy shifted from “wedding day” to “okay yeah, we’re celebrating for real now.”
And honestly, those are our favorite kinds of weddings to photograph, the ones where everyone is fully present and genuinely having a blast.
Now let’s talk about the ending, because Taylor and Nigel absolutely nailed it.
They wrapped up the night by jumping into their hotel pool.
Not a cute little toes-in situation. Full send. Wedding day adrenaline still in the system. Just pure, ridiculous joy.
It was the perfect finale, and a pretty solid reminder that some of the best wedding moments happen when you stop trying to “do it right” and just do what feels fun.
If you want more real moments on your wedding day, build in one intentional “just for us” moment.
It can be as simple as a private drink together, a quick walk, or a goofy end-of-night plan like a pool jump.
Those moments break up the pace of the day and give you something you’ll actually remember, not just something you checked off a list.
