Bella and Chris’ engagement session in Grand Rapids was built for couples who want their photos to feel like a night out.
We started at Meanwhile for drinks and pinball, then finished the session with rooftop car shots that gave the whole gallery a bold, modern edge.
This session had variety without feeling random, which is always the goal.
One fun indoor stop where you can actually do something together, then a rooftop finish for a totally different look. It felt like a real GR date night, and the photos came out the same way.
Meanwhile is such a fun engagement session spot in Grand Rapids.
The lighting is moody, the vibe is laid-back, and pinball is basically a cheat code for candid photos. You’re laughing, reacting, leaning in to talk, and getting that playful competition energy that makes everything feel natural.
Bella and Chris were fully in it, which gave us a ton of real moments right away.
Then we switched gears and went for rooftop car shots.
This part gave their session a whole different vibe, more cinematic, a little gritty, and super unique. Rooftops also give you clean lines and open space, which makes portraits feel bold and modern.
We captured a mix of “just the two of them” portraits and those wider shots that show off the rooftop setting and the car details.
Meanwhile brought the fun and the candids.
The rooftop brought the statement shots. Together, it created a gallery that felt full, personal, and different, without needing to bounce around all over the city.
1) Plan two outfits.
A “going out” look for the bar, and something slightly bolder or more elevated for the rooftop.
2) Keep the activity simple.
Pinball, a drink, and a little time to hang out is plenty. The moments happen naturally.
3) Check rooftop access ahead of time.
We want to make sure it’s a safe, allowed spot so the session stays stress-free.
If you want engagement photos that feel fun, modern, and totally you, pick places you actually love going together.
Bars, arcades, rooftops, coffee shops, record stores, whatever fits your vibe. We’ll help you plan the flow and capture the story in a way that feels natural from start to finish.
