Kristi and Aaron’s engagement session at St. Patrick’s County Park had the perfect mix of rustic charm and peaceful scenery.
We spent time near the red barn for that classic, textured look, then made our way down by the water to finish the session with something softer and more open.
St. Pat’s Park works so well for engagement photos because you can get completely different vibes without leaving the park.
For Kristi and Aaron, we leaned into two of the park’s most distinct areas to give their gallery contrast while still keeping everything cohesive.
We started near the red barn, which adds instant character to photos.
The bold color, wood textures, and open space around it create a strong backdrop without overpowering the couple. It’s a great spot for portraits that feel grounded and timeless, especially if you like a slightly rustic feel.
From there, we headed toward the water for a totally different look.
The river area brings a calmer, more relaxed feel to the session. The reflections, tree-lined edges, and open views add depth and balance out the boldness of the barn backdrop.
Kristi and Aaron were completely at ease here, which made the second half of the session feel especially natural.
Combining two distinct areas in one session keeps the gallery interesting without making it feel busy.
The barn adds structure and texture. The water softens everything. Together, it creates a story that feels intentional and complete.
1) Plan for walking.
The best spots are spread out, and walking helps the session feel relaxed.
2) Choose outfits that work in both settings.
Neutral or earthy tones photograph well against both the barn and the river.
3) Trust the transitions.
Some of the best photos happen while moving from one spot to the next.
If you want an engagement session with variety, character, and a relaxed pace, St. Patrick’s County Park is always a great choice.
We’ll help you plan the flow and capture photos that feel natural, balanced, and true to you.
