Heather and Justin’s wedding day at The Blue Heron at Blackthorn was one of those celebrations that just felt easy in the best way.
Good people, good vibes, a venue that looks incredible on camera, and a day that moved from heartfelt moments into “okay yeah, this dance floor is staying busy” real quick.
If you’ve never been to The Blue Heron at Blackthorn, it’s got that perfect mix of classy and cozy.
It feels elevated without feeling stuffy, and it gives you a ton of options for portraits, ceremony moments, and reception coverage without having to bounce all over town.
Basically, it’s built for a wedding day that flows.
From the jump, Heather and Justin were locked in.
Not in a “we’re trying to perform for the camera” way. More like, “we’re finally here, we’re together, let’s do this” energy.
Those are the days where the candids come easy because the couple is actually present, and their people are genuinely having a good time.
One of our favorite parts of the day was carving out time for portraits that felt natural, not forced.
Heather and Justin were down for direction when they needed it, but the best moments came in between, the laughs, the quick looks, the “wait, are we really married?” smiles.
That’s the sweet spot.
And then came the part of the day where everyone fully let loose.
The reception had that perfect pacing where you get the emotional beats, the cheers, the toasts that actually land, and then the dance floor opens and it’s game on.
Heather and Justin’s crew brought the kind of energy that makes our job way too fun. The kind where we’re looking at each other like, “yep, this is going to be a good one.”
If you want your day to feel less rushed, build in a small buffer before the reception kicks off.
Even 10 to 15 minutes where you two can breathe, grab a sip of water, and have a “we just got married” moment together can change everything.
You’ll walk into that reception feeling grounded, and you’ll enjoy it way more.
