If you’ve ever wanted a wedding day that feels like a backyard hang with your favorite people, but still looks clean, intentional, and beautiful in photos, Blue Barn Berry Farm is that kind of place.
Elizabeth and Kyle chose Blue Barn Berry Farm because of the open layout, the relaxed vibe, and the way it lets everyone spread out and actually enjoy themselves. It’s airy, it’s outdoorsy, it has space for kids to be kids, and it gives you tons of options for portraits without bouncing all over town. For them, it was all about creating a day that felt like them. That meant adventure vibes, blues and greens, and a big emphasis on love, family, and fun.
And yes, Elizabeth summed it up perfectly in three words: “I love Kyle.”
One of the best parts about getting ready at Blue Barn Berry Farm is the simplicity. No travel logistics, no bouncing between locations, and no “where’s my stuff” chaos.
Elizabeth spent the morning getting ready on-site with her people, with travel stories and anticipation filling the room. Kyle and his crew were there too, swapping college-day stories and settling into the day.
When everything is happening in one place, the energy stays grounded. It gives you space to breathe and it keeps the day moving smoothly.
Their ceremony took place outdoors, with guests arriving and settling into a space that already felt welcoming and open.
One of the most meaningful parts of the ceremony was their ring-warming. If you’ve never seen one, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Their rings were passed through the hands of loved ones before they made it back to Elizabeth and Kyle. It’s a simple tradition, but it hits hard in the best way. It turns the “we’re getting married” moment into “we’re surrounded by people who are with us.”
They also chose an unplugged ceremony, which we love. Phones away means the aisle stays clear, guests are present, and the photos feel even more real.
And with a ceremony like this, outdoors at Blue Barn Berry Farm, you do not need distractions. The setting does the work.
Let’s talk about the flower crew.
Elizabeth and Kyle included thirteen flower girls, plus Grandma Nadine, aka the flower granny. It added so much movement and personality to the day. It also set the tone early. This wedding was not stiff. It was playful, family-forward, and full of little moments that made everyone smile.
That’s the kind of stuff you can’t fake. You just build a day that reflects your life, and then you let it happen.
Elizabeth had a detailed family photo plan, and honestly, that’s the move when you’ve got a lot of groups and want things to stay calm. The best part was the mindset behind it. The goal was to move efficiently, keep things light, and not get stuck hunting people down if kids were running around or someone wandered off.
Fast, organized family photos means more time to relax, more time to hang with your guests, and more time to actually enjoy your wedding.
After the ceremony, everyone flowed right into cocktail hour and the start of the reception. Blue Barn Berry Farm is great for this because the space naturally encourages people to mingle, spread out, and settle into whatever vibe they want, whether that’s dancing, chatting, or hanging with the kids by the playground.
Their first dance song was “Northern Wind” by City and Colour, which fits their outdoorsy, adventure vibe perfectly. They also planned special dances, including a groom and mom dance, a bride and kids dance, and an honor dance, which kept the day centered on the people who matter most.
And just when everyone thought the day had peaked, Elizabeth and Kyle took things to the next level.
Their after party ended with the most “them” move possible. They jumped straight into the lake.
No performance, no big announcement, just pure, chaotic joy. It was the kind of moment you cannot plan perfectly, and that’s exactly why it’s so good. If you’re an outdoorsy couple and your wedding day is built around fun, this is the energy.
If you’re doing an outdoor ceremony and you want it to feel smooth, do these three things:
Pick a ceremony start time that gives you the best light.
Have a simple plan for where family photos happen right after.
Build in breathing room, even if you think you do not need it.
Blue Barn Berry Farm makes this easy because it’s all right there, which means less driving and more celebrating.
