Nina and Jason’s Marion Magnolia Farms wedding was the perfect blend of “let’s keep it chill” and “okay but we’re still throwing a real party.” They’ve known each other since 2019 through Notre Dame, and their story feels like one of those slow-burn friendships that turns into the real deal once someone finally convinces the other person to show up and hang out.
Jason’s the guy juggling two jobs, living in the sports and video game world, and still showing up for his softball league like it’s a sacred tradition. Nina’s in research, not exactly living on wedding Pinterest boards, and was way more excited about the fancy honeymoon side of things. Jason, on the other hand, wanted the big wedding energy. So they met in the middle and built a day that felt fun, full, and totally them.
Nina started the day getting ready at an Airbnb near the property, then wrapped things up in the bridal suite, which kept everything close and easy. We kicked off with details, the dress, and those little “this is real” moments that happen when the room starts filling up with friends, family, and nervous excitement.
These two made time for a first look and private vows, and it was exactly what it should be. Quiet, personal, and a chance to breathe together before the guest-facing version of the day kicked in. If you want a wedding day that feels less like a sprint, this is one of the best ways to do it.
After the first look, we rolled right into wedding party photos and couple portraits around the property. Marion Magnolia Farms has that “open space, good light, and room to move” vibe, and the old truck on-site gave us a perfect backdrop that felt classic without trying too hard.
Their ceremony was heartfelt, but it also had personality, which is always our favorite combo. Nina’s brothers walked her down the aisle, and they pulled off a little “Kevin’s not here” bit beforehand that made the moment land even harder. The best part was the surprise factor, especially for Nina’s mom. It was one of those real-time reactions that you can’t script, and you wouldn’t want to.
After the ceremony, everyone flowed into cocktail hour while we knocked out family photos and grabbed a quick “just married” set with Nina and Jason. Keeping it tight and intentional meant they were not gone forever, which is the whole goal.
The reception brought the energy. Buffet, open bar, DJ, lawn games, and a crowd that came ready to celebrate. They also had a photo booth set up near a greenery wall inside, which was a total win because it stayed busy and looked great in photos. Add in a dessert bar and a late-night snack bar, and you’ve basically covered every guest happiness category.
Somewhere in the middle of it all, Nina and Jason squeezed in sunset photos, then jumped right back into the party for speeches, cake cutting, first dances, and an anniversary dance that felt like a warm hug from the room.
And then came the ending, which was honestly the kind of moment you remember forever. They wrapped the night with “Piano Man,” and their friends and family circled around them like a big loud singalong hug. No fancy production needed, just everyone together, arms around each other, yelling the lyrics like it was their full-time job. It was the perfect “this is why we did all of this” closer.
If you want more time with your guests and less time feeling pulled in ten directions, stack your day with a first look, private vows, and portraits before the ceremony. It keeps the timeline smoother, it gives you breathing room, and it lets cocktail hour actually feel like cocktail hour.
