When you’ve shared so many great memories at a place you both love, why not get married there too? That’s exactly why Melissa and Aric chose Journeyman Distillery for their wedding day. It’s a space they already felt connected to and on this day, it held even more meaning.
From the exposed brick and moody lighting to the handcrafted touches throughout the venue, everything felt personal and stylish in that rustic-modern way only Journeyman can deliver.
One of the most emotional parts of the day? Their first look. The nerves. The tears. The laughter. Melissa and Aric chose to see each other before the ceremony, and it ended up being one of their favorite memories. Just the two of them. Breathing it all in before everything kicked off.
And let’s talk about the dress black lace detail that was the whole vibe and inspiration for the day. Elegant. Bold. And totally unforgettable.
The ceremony felt like them. Full of heart, grounded in family, and soundtracked by “Leather and Lace” by Fleetwood Mac as Melissa walked down the aisle.
One of the biggest moments? Their vows. Between raising kids, planning a wedding, and life in general this moment of raw honesty and commitment meant everything. No frills, no fluff. Just love, respect, and a promise to keep growing together.
Melissa hand-crafted her bouquet alongside her bridesmaids using blooms from Flower Moxie, and they nailed it. The whole day was peppered with thoughtful, hands-on touches that reflected who they are together creative, close-knit, and intentional with every detail.
After dinner, it was time to let loose. With 27 Entertainment keeping the vibes high, the reception rolled into first dances, heartfelt toasts, and a party that didn’t hold back. Their first dance? “You Are the Reason” by Calum Scott & Leona Lewis soft, strong, and just right.
Okay, but real talk: bumper cars at a wedding? GENIUS. Kids were obsessed. Adults? Even more obsessed. It was the perfect surprise and such a hit that Melissa swears every wedding should have them. And honestly… she’s not wrong.
“Don’t overdo the DIY. Do what makes sense and leave space to enjoy the day.”
“Invest in what matters: photos, the venue, and the moments. You won’t regret it.”
