Not every wedding has a signature cocktail named after the couple’s cat but Meagan and Matt’s wasn’t your average wedding. From a hand-fasting ceremony to epic downtown portraits and a harp cover of Flightless Bird, American Mouth, their day at Uptown Social was equal parts emotional, easygoing, and deeply them. They didn’t just throw a wedding they curated an experience that reflected their story, their style, and the little things that matter most.
The morning started off calm and confident as Meagan and Matt got ready at Uptown Social both feeling that blend of excitement and “we got this.” Before the ceremony kicked off, we wandered around Michigan City to capture portraits in some of the city’s most beautiful corners. It was one of their favorite parts of the day just the two of them, enjoying that quiet pre-ceremony energy and getting to soak in those “we’re really doing this” feelings.
Meagan and Matt infused their ceremony with Celtic inspiration, including a hand-fasting ritual that symbolized their connection in a meaningful and timeless way. With warm weather, a light breeze, and harp music floating in the air, the atmosphere was both relaxed and reverent. Their vows were real, honest, and joyful just like them.
One of our favorite reception moments? Spotting their signature drink named after their cat complete with custom cutouts of his face. (We are so here for pets being part of the party.) The reception flowed effortlessly thanks to their amazing vendor team, including CK Catering, 219 Productions, and Sta-Glam. Every moment, from the first dance (“We Found Each Other in the Dark” by City and Colour) to the final cheers of the night, was heartfelt and celebratory.
Meagan and Matt weren’t here to follow traditions just because. They focused on what mattered saying “I do,” celebrating with their people, and crafting a day that felt easy, personal, and fun.
As Meagan put it best:
“At the end of the day, it is your day. Do what makes you both happy. Don’t worry about your centerpieces—nobody will remember them.”
