Some weddings feel polished and timeless. This one did too, but it also had the kind of energy you can feel in your chest.
Colette and Tim planned an Uptown Social wedding that mixed classic style with modern fun, plus a few personal touches that made the day feel really intentional. The venue itself set the tone with original details and those iconic organ pipes in the main hall. Everything felt elevated without feeling stiff.
Colette got ready onsite at Uptown Social, which always helps the day feel smoother. No bouncing around town, no extra travel stress, just settle in and enjoy it.
Her crew could talk forever about music, so the morning had that upbeat, sing-along vibe. Tim got ready at Blue Chip, and his side was all football. Two totally different energies, both the perfect kind for a wedding day.
Colette and Tim chose a first look, and it was one of the moments they were most excited for and most nervous about. That checks out.
They also shared private vows, which ended up being the moment they said will stick with them forever. It was just the two of them, no audience, no pressure. Just honesty, emotion, and the kind of quiet connection you can’t rush.
Their ceremony took place indoors at Uptown Social, and they went unplugged. That made a difference. Guests were actually present, eyes up, reactions real.
One detail we loved was their bridal party setup. Bridesmaids stood behind the groom and groomsmen stood behind the bride. It created a balanced look and made the ceremony feel a little more “them” without needing to turn it into a whole theme.
There was also one venue note, no photos during the “flip.” That’s the behind-the-scenes transformation from ceremony to reception. We planned around it, and it kept everything running clean.
They kept portraits close to Uptown Social, using the surrounding area for variety without eating up time. That’s one of the best moves for a wedding like this.
Colette wanted some direction, so we kept it simple. A mix of clean posing, easy prompts, and a little movement to keep it natural.
This reception had two goals, celebrate hard and make memories with everyone in the room.
They kicked things off with grand entrances straight into their first dance to “Lover” (wedding version). Then they went right into cake, toasts, dinner, and the fun started ramping up.
They planned a picture challenge where they tried to get a photo with every table, and then opened the dance floor with one massive group photo. That ended up being one of their favorite moments of the whole day. You could literally feel the love in the room.
Also, yes, there were Grinch photos. That alone tells you what kind of night it was.
If you’re planning an Uptown Social wedding, build your timeline with the flip in mind.
Ask your coordinator how long they need to transform the room, then plan portraits or a quick breather window during that gap. It keeps the flow smooth, and you avoid that “where do we go now” feeling.
Also, if you want a giant group photo on the dance floor, do it early. The later it gets, the harder it is to corral 200 people.
