Alivia and Alex’s Fernwood engagement session was peak fall perfection.
Golden leaves, quiet trails, and that crisp Michigan air that makes everything feel a little more cozy and a little more cinematic.
Fernwood is one of our favorite spots for engagement photos in the Niles area, especially in the fall.
You get so much variety in one location. Wooded paths, open pockets of light, bridges, natural textures, and seasonal color that makes your gallery feel rich without trying too hard.
It’s peaceful, it’s pretty, and it’s perfect for couples who want their session to feel like a relaxed walk together.
We started with a simple stroll through the trails to get warmed up.
Walking is always the cheat code for engagement photos. You’re moving, you’re talking, and the candid moments show up naturally because you’re focused on each other instead of the camera.
Alivia and Alex were so comfortable together. Lots of laughter, lots of those quiet little moments, and the kind of connection that photographs effortlessly.
Fernwood in the fall is all about texture.
The warm leaves and soft light make everything feel romantic, and the natural backdrops keep the focus on the two of you.
We made sure to capture a mix of scenic frames that showed off the season and closer portraits that felt clean and timeless.
1) Lean into layers.
Sweaters, jackets, and textures photograph beautifully at Fernwood in the fall.
2) Wear shoes you can walk in.
Fernwood is best when we can explore the paths and find a few different looks.
3) Choose warm, earthy tones.
Neutrals, deep tones, and fall colors look amazing against the trees and trails.
If you want engagement photos that feel cozy, natural, and full of real moments, Fernwood is such a solid choice.
We’ll keep it relaxed, guide you through everything, and make sure your gallery feels like you two from start to finish.
