Marisa and Devin’s wedding at The Red Shed was the kind of day that never tried to be anything other than what it was. A celebration. A party. A whole vibe.
They’ve been together for 4.5 years, their lives are busy, and they love the simple stuff. Movies, apple picking, walking around the block, and actually getting to relax together. So when it came time to plan their wedding, they went all in on what felt right. Big energy, big love, and a room full of people ready to hype them up.
The Red Shed in Hudsonville has that perfect mix of laid-back and ready-to-party. It’s a spot where you can do everything in one place, let guests settle in, and then flip the switch when it’s time for the reception.
Marisa and Devin’s guest count was in that sweet spot where it still feels intimate, but the dance floor can get wild. And it did.
If you want proof that these two were meant to be, it’s the fact that Jenga is basically a supporting character in their relationship.
Devin has a twin brother, and back in college they lived on the same floor. Devin saw Marisa and straight up told his brother he was going to date her. Bold. Correct. No notes.
And the way he made his move was even better. He used a Jenga block from drunk Jenga that said “kiss.” That is either insanely confident or a little chaotic, and somehow it worked perfectly.
Then, when it came time to propose, he brought it full circle and proposed with a Jenga block too. So yeah, Jenga has earned its place in their history.
Marisa and Devin didn’t do a first look with each other. They wanted that moment to happen at the ceremony.
But Marisa did do a first look with her dad, and it was extra meaningful because he also officiated their ceremony. That’s one of those moments that’s quiet, emotional, and instantly becomes the kind of memory you hold onto forever.
They also made time for a first look with the groomsmen, which is always a good time because it’s basically a mix of hype, jokes, and “okay wow you clean up nice.”
The ceremony was one of those moments where you could feel the anticipation. No first look means the aisle moment hits harder, and you could tell everyone was locked in for it.
After the ceremony, Marisa and Devin took a ride in the marriage carriage, which was such a fun way to get a little breather while still keeping the day moving. Marisa loves horses, so it was a perfect “this is so us” touch.
Also, real talk, the group was in full hype mode and Devin ripped his pants during the carriage moment. The kind of chaos that is hilarious in the moment and legendary forever after.
They had seven on each side, which made for the kind of wedding party that can fill a room with energy without even trying.
Between portraits, laughs, and the overall “we are here to celebrate these two” energy, the wedding party kept the momentum up all day long.
Okay, let’s talk about the entrance, because this was not the standard “walk in and wave” situation.
The plan was for the wedding party to come in galloping in pairs on horses. Yes, horses. And then Marisa and Devin made their entrance right after. It matched their vibe perfectly. Upbeat, unexpected, and built for a crowd that was ready to cheer.
One of the best ways to keep a wedding day feeling balanced is to sneak away for a quick sunset reset. Marisa and Devin did exactly that, then came back to the reception ready for the next phase of the night.
After dances and a big group photo on the dance floor, it was open dancing and the party officially took over.
If you want a wedding that feels like a party, build in tiny moments to breathe. A short sunset break, a quick private minute after the ceremony, or even a fun carriage ride can keep the whole day from feeling like a blur.
And if something goofy happens, like ripping your pants, just laugh and keep moving. Those end up being the stories everyone tells for years, and they usually make the photos even better.
