Ashley and Liam’s engagement session in Mishawaka was the perfect mix of cozy and scenic.
We started at the Mishawaka Library for that quiet, bookish vibe, then headed to the Riverwalk for some relaxed portraits with water views and a little more open space.
This is one of our favorite ways to plan a session.
Pick two locations that feel like you, one that’s cozy and personal, and one that’s scenic and open. It gives you variety in the gallery, and it also makes the session feel like a real date instead of a photoshoot checklist.
Library sessions are such an underrated engagement idea.
The shelves, the warm indoor feel, and the quiet atmosphere make everything feel intimate right away. Plus, browsing and laughing at random book finds gives you something to do, which makes the photos feel natural.
Ashley and Liam fit this vibe perfectly, calm, connected, and fully in the moment.
After the library, we headed to the Mishawaka Riverwalk to switch things up.
The Riverwalk is perfect for movement and scenic portraits. We took a relaxed stroll, stopped when the light looked good, and captured a mix of wider shots that show off the setting and tighter portraits that keep the focus on them.
It brought a little more “open air” energy to the session and rounded out the gallery in a really nice way.
You get both cozy and scenic in one session.
Indoor photos with personality, then outdoor portraits with clean backgrounds and water views. It’s a simple plan, but it creates a gallery that feels full and story-driven without needing a bunch of locations.
1) Choose spots that feel like you.
Favorite places always photograph best because you relax faster.
2) Wear shoes you can walk in.
Riverwalk sessions are best when we can keep moving comfortably.
3) Consider two outfits.
One cozy look for the library and one slightly more elevated look for the Riverwalk can add variety without adding stress.
If you want engagement photos that feel personal, relaxed, and built around things you actually enjoy, this kind of two-spot session is such a great move.
Tell us your vibe and your favorite places and we’ll help you build a session that feels like you two from start to finish.
