EJ and Austin’s South Bend engagement session was basically the perfect “this is our real life” kind of date.
We started downtown with a stop at Peggs, wandered around downtown South Bend, headed over to Notre Dame for a classic campus vibe, and finished the session at their home for a cozy, personal ending.
We love a session that starts with a real-life stop. It instantly sets the tone and helps you feel comfortable.
EJ and Austin kicked things off at Peggs, which gave us that laid-back, “we’re just grabbing a bite and hanging out” vibe right out of the gate.
Plus, having something to do with your hands is always a win for warming up. Drinks, food, laughter, and those natural moments that happen when you’re not thinking about the camera.
From there, we kept things simple and walked around downtown.
Downtown South Bend is perfect for engagement photos because it gives you so much variety in a small area. Brick textures, clean modern lines, sidewalks, and pockets of good light that make portraits look effortless.
We followed the light, stopped when a spot felt right, and let the candid moments happen in between the portraits. EJ and Austin made it easy. Their vibe was relaxed, natural, and full of those little laughs that make photos feel real.
After downtown, we headed to Notre Dame to bring in that classic campus look.
Notre Dame is always a strong choice for engagement photos because it feels timeless. The scenery is iconic, the light can be gorgeous, and it’s the kind of place that instantly elevates the look of the gallery without feeling too formal.
We grabbed a mix of scenic frames and clean portraits, then ended that portion of the session with a relaxed, “let’s just enjoy this” kind of energy.
Finishing at their home was the perfect ending.
At-home photos are always personal because it’s your space. It’s where your life actually happens. That makes the images feel intimate and real in a way no public location ever can.
We kept it simple and relaxed, capturing those calm, cozy moments that feel like a snapshot of who they are on a normal day together.
This kind of session gives you a gallery that feels like a full story.
A favorite local spot, a downtown walk, a classic campus backdrop, and an at-home ending. You get variety without chaos, and everything feels personal because these are places that matter to you.
1) Keep it walkable.
Start with one downtown area, then add one bigger location like Notre Dame. That keeps the flow easy.
2) Add one “do something” stop.
Coffee, drinks, food, anything that feels like your real date night helps you warm up fast.
3) Save at-home photos for the end.
You’ll be fully relaxed by then, which makes those cozy photos feel extra natural.
If you want engagement photos that feel like your real life together, we’re all in.
We’ll help you build a simple plan, keep the session moving, and make sure your gallery feels like you two from start to finish.
