Some proposal stories feel planned down to the minute.
And then there are the ones that happen because the universe decided to be extra.
Ryan and Ashley’s Disney World proposal was absolutely that second kind.
Wes and I were already in Magic Kingdom that day because we were meeting up with our friend Ellie. She was a Cast Member, and we were taking portraits of her during our time in the park.
During our session, Ellie casually suggested we head over to Cinderella’s Wishing Well.
Literally right before we went.
We’ve joked before that one day it would be amazing to capture a proposal at one of our favorite places in the world.
No big agenda. No plan in motion. Just one of those “how cool would that be?” thoughts.
And then we got to the wishing well.
We were waiting in line near the fountain, and a family member walked right up to us.
They told us Ryan was about to propose to Ashley.
So in the most unreal, perfectly timed twist, we went from “taking portraits in the park” to “quietly getting in position to capture a once-in-a-lifetime moment.”
Ryan asked. Ashley said yes. And the whole thing felt like the park itself was in on it.
Cinderella’s Wishing Well is already such a romantic spot in Magic Kingdom. Tucked away, peaceful, and just far enough from the main chaos that the moment feels more intimate.
And the fact that we were there, on a totally different plan, and still got to capture it, that’s the kind of story you can’t make up.
1) Pick a spot that feels a little tucked away.
Places like Cinderella’s Wishing Well can feel more intimate while still being iconic.
2) Have one person “in on it.”
A friend or family member can help with timing and positioning, which makes everything smoother.
3) Plan around crowds.
Early morning or a quieter time of day can make the moment feel more personal and give you cleaner photos.
We’ll never get over how perfectly this came together.
The timing, the location, the surprise, and the fact that we got to be there to capture it, it felt like one of those rare “this was meant to happen” moments.
Ryan and Ashley, we’re so happy we got to be part of your story in the most unexpected way.
