Makayla and Bobby planned a wedding day that felt like the best kind of contrast. Dark and moody outside, warm and rustic inside, and dressed up with those rich, elegant details that make everything feel elevated without feeling stiff.

Makayla and Bobby loved the dark, moody feel of the outdoor spaces and the rustic warmth inside. Gable Hill has that “it already looks good” energy. You do not need to overdecorate it for it to feel like a whole experience.
Their color palette tied right into the vibe too: burgundy, champagne, ivory, gold, and a touch of black. Moody romance, but still classy.
Getting Ready On Site
One of the nicest parts about their day was how streamlined it was. Everyone was getting ready right on property, which meant fewer moving parts and more time actually enjoying the day.
Bobby rolled in with his crew ready to go, and the vibe was simple and relaxed. Also, if you put a bunch of guys together and ask what they’ll talk about forever, the answer checks out: hunting.
First Touch And Private Vows
Instead of a first look, Makayla and Bobby wanted a first touch. Think hands reaching around a doorway, feeling each other there, and reading more private vows without the crowd.
These are some of our favorite moments because it’s intimate without changing the ceremony experience. You still get that big “see each other for the first time” moment walking down the aisle, but you also get a quiet pocket of the day where it’s just you two.
They were also considering a first look between Makayla and her dad, which is always a solid idea if you want a heartfelt moment without an audience.
An Unplugged Outdoor Ceremony
They chose an unplugged ceremony, which we love. It keeps the aisle clear and it keeps guests actually present. People are watching the moment instead of watching their screen record the moment.
Their ceremony was outdoors at Gable Hill, with Val Skinner officiating. Makayla planned to stand on the right side of the altar, Bobby on the left, and they made sure there was a little extra space for the groomsmen. That kind of small planning detail makes the whole ceremony setup feel smoother.
Portraits Around The Property
Makayla and Bobby kept portraits on-site, which is perfect at Gable Hill because there are built-in spots that photograph so well.
They had a lighted path for those later-night vibes, a small dock on the water, and an old truck that is basically begging for a few “this is going on the wall” shots. Add in a little creative lighting and you’ve got variety without needing to leave the venue.
They also told us they wanted some direction, but neither of them were big on photos. That’s our favorite combo. You do not have to know what to do. We’ll guide you, keep it natural, and get you back to your people fast.
Reception With All The Good Stuff
Their reception plans had a little bit of everything. Dinner, dances, and the fun reception classics that keep the night moving.
They had a father-daughter dance, mother-son dance, a dollar dance, the shoe game, and a garter and bouquet toss that they wanted to remix into something less traditional. We are always here for that. Keep the fun, ditch the awkward.
They also had BBQ from Q It Up, which is one of the easiest ways to guarantee a happy crowd.
A Sparkler Grand Exit To End The Night
Makayla and Bobby planned a grand exit with sparklers, plus confetti or something similar. That’s the kind of ending that feels like a movie scene, especially at a venue with that moody exterior lighting.
Pro tip: if you want sparklers, build a little breathing room into the end of the night so nobody’s rushing to herd people outside. The calmer the setup, the better it looks and the more fun it feels.
