If you’re dreaming of a day that feels equal parts intimate and effortless, a Bell Mare Wedding and Events wedding is such a solid move.
Erika and Zachary’s day had that calm, cozy pacing that lets you actually enjoy what’s happening, then it turns up the energy at exactly the right moments. A first look that grounded them, portraits that felt natural, and a reception that didn’t waste time getting to the fun.
Erika started the day getting ready at an Airbnb, which is honestly one of our favorite setups.
It’s relaxed, it gives you space, and it usually has those little in-between moments that end up meaning the most. The deep breath before the dress goes on. A quick laugh that breaks the nerves. The quiet “oh wow, it’s actually happening” feeling.
Then came the first look.
Not the staged, overly-performed version. The real one. The kind where you can see both people instantly soften because they’re finally together and the pressure fades out.
After that, we rolled right into couple portraits and bridal party photos while everyone was still fresh and the energy was high.
This is the cheat code, by the way. When portraits happen earlier, you’re not disappearing for a huge chunk of your reception later. You get your photos, you get to be present, and you’re not rushing through cocktail hour like it’s a chore.
Once we got to the venue, we grabbed a second round of portraits on-site, because a Bell Mare Wedding and Events wedding gives you such a clean backdrop for that “classic but not boring” look.
Guests arrived, the ceremony kicked off, and everything flowed smoothly into the next chapter.
Family photos happened right after, which keeps it simple. Everyone is already nearby, emotions are still high, and nobody has wandered off yet.
Then cocktail hour got rolling and you could feel the shift. People relaxed. Drinks in hand. Hugs, laughs, and that buzz that says, “Okay, now we’re celebrating.”
Erika and Zachary snuck out for a fast sunset photo moment, and it was exactly what it should be.
Not a whole production. Just a quick reset together, a breath of fresh air, and some golden light that makes everything look like a movie.
This is one of those things that sounds small, but it changes how the rest of your night feels. You get a second to reconnect, then you come back in ready to party.
The reception got moving fast.
Entrances brought the hype, and their first dance landed with that sweet, “this is really our life” kind of energy.
Cake cutting happened early (another underrated move), dinner followed, and then speeches hit at a perfect time when everyone was seated, fed, and paying attention.
Then came family dances, including a moment with Erika and her son that was genuinely one of those “yep, this is why we do this job” parts of the day. Zachary and his mom shared their dance too, and you could feel how loved and supported they were by the people closest to them.
Once open dancing started, the rest of the night was exactly what you want it to be.
No weird pauses. No awkward dead space. Just a dance floor that stayed alive.
And the photo booth running through the night gave everyone another way to be silly and make memories without needing to be “on.” Photo booths are basically permission to be unhinged in the best way, and guests always deliver.
Do the first look if you want more time together. It takes the pressure off and makes the day feel calmer.
Knock out portraits early, then enjoy cocktail hour. Future you will be so grateful.
Sneak out for sunset photos fast. Ten minutes is enough. You don’t need to disappear for an hour.
If you’re adding a photo booth, keep it open long enough for the late-night crowd. That’s when the funniest stuff happens.
