Brooke and Jim’s Notre Dame engagement session was the perfect mix of soft, scenic, and effortlessly romantic.
We started in the wildflower field for that dreamy, nature-meets-campus look, then finished along the lake for calm water views and timeless portraits.
That wildflower field on Notre Dame’s campus is one of those spots that surprises people in the best way.
It feels like you just stepped out of campus and into a little pocket of nature. Soft colors, tall grasses, and that gentle “we’re on a quiet walk together” vibe that makes photos feel real.
Brooke and Jim were so easy together, which made the fall wildflower setting feel even more natural. Lots of laughter, lots of close little moments, and zero forced posing energy.
We kept the session moving with a simple flow, walking through the field, stopping when the light looked good, and letting the in-between moments happen naturally.
That’s always the best way to shoot in a spot like this. You get variety without trying too hard, and the photos feel like you two actually existing together, not performing for the camera.
After the field, we headed toward the lake for a totally different look.
The lake brings in cleaner backgrounds, open space, and that calm, timeless feel that balances the softness of the wildflowers perfectly.
We grabbed a mix of wide scenic shots and closer portraits, then let Brooke and Jim just enjoy the moment together while we captured it.
1) Go for movement-friendly outfits.
Flowy dresses, layers, and outfits you can comfortably walk in always look amazing in tall grass and wildflowers.
2) Plan for a little walking.
We’ll be moving between the field and the lake, and walking is what keeps everything feeling natural.
3) Trust the candid moments.
The best wildflower field photos happen in the in-between, laughing, leaning in, and just being close.
If you love the idea of mixing nature and classic Notre Dame scenery, the wildflower field and the lake are such a good combo.
We’ll help you plan it, keep it relaxed, and make sure your gallery feels like you two from start to finish.
