Cass and Tasha’s Leeper Park session started like a normal couples shoot.
A little walking, a little laughing, a few easy prompts to get them comfortable, and then the whole thing took a turn in the best way. Surprise proposal. Big reactions. Huge yes.
Leeper Park in South Bend is such a great spot for a proposal because it feels peaceful and pretty without needing anything extra.
You’ve got trees, open space, walking paths, and those quiet little corners where the moment can feel private even when the park is active.
It’s perfect for a proposal that feels natural, not staged.
We kicked things off with a casual couples portrait session to keep everything feeling normal.
That’s the best cover story. It lets you both settle in, it makes the camera feel less intimidating, and it gives us time to get a rhythm going before the big moment.
Cass and Tasha were already so good together, lots of laughs, lots of natural connection, and that comfortable energy that makes photos feel effortless.
And then it happened.
Tasha popped the question and you could literally feel the shift in the air. Cass’ reaction was immediate, the kind of surprise you can’t fake.
Happy tears, shock, laughter, and that “wait… are you serious?” moment that turns into the biggest yes.
Those seconds are why proposal photos matter. The emotion is real, and you get to keep it forever.
After the proposal, we stayed in that “just engaged” high and captured portraits around the park.
This part is always so fun because everything is lighter. You’re hugging, laughing, looking at the ring every five seconds, and the photos feel effortless because you’re genuinely happy.
We kept it simple, walked to a few good spots, and let the moments happen naturally.
1) Start with a couples session.
It keeps things relaxed, it feels natural, and it gives you a great cover story.
2) Pick a spot with space.
A little breathing room helps the moment feel intimate and keeps your photos clean.
3) Plan a simple cue.
We’ll work out a subtle signal so we’re in position and ready when it’s time.
4) Give yourselves time after.
Those “just engaged” portraits are always favorites. We recommend at least 15 to 30 minutes after the yes.
If you’re thinking about proposing and want photos that capture the surprise and the celebration after, we’re in.
We’ll help you plan it, keep it natural, and document it in a way that feels real, not staged.
