Connor and McKenna’s Saint Mary’s College proposal was one of those moments that hits you right in the feelings, in the best way.
A classic campus backdrop, a plan that came together, and that split second when everything changes. The look on McKenna’s face said it all, and Connor absolutely nailed it.
Saint Mary’s College is such a beautiful place to propose because it feels timeless and calm.
There are so many pockets of pretty scenery and clean backdrops around campus, so your photos feel elevated without needing anything extra.
For Connor, it was all about keeping it meaningful and making sure we were in the right spot at the right time.
When the moment happened, it was instant.
McKenna realized what was going on, Connor got down on one knee, and the rest of the world basically disappeared for a minute.
Those reactions are why proposal photos are worth it. The surprise, the happy tears, the laughter, the “wait, is this real?” moment, then the biggest yes of their lives.
After she said yes, we took our time and captured “just engaged” portraits around Saint Mary’s.
This part is always a blast because the energy is different. You’re both riding that high, you’re hugging, laughing, and staring at the ring every five seconds.
We kept it relaxed, walked to a few great spots, and let the moments happen naturally.
1) Pick a spot with space.
Choosing a location with room to breathe helps the moment feel more intimate and keeps photos clean.
2) Have a simple cover story.
A casual walk, a quick photo, or a scenic stop makes it feel natural and helps avoid suspicion.
3) Plan what happens right after.
Give yourselves 15 to 30 minutes for portraits while the emotions are fresh. That’s when the photos feel the most real.
4) Don’t chase perfection.
The best proposal photos aren’t about a perfect pose. They’re about real reactions and joy.
If you’re planning to propose at Saint Mary’s College (or nearby) and want photos that capture both the surprise and the celebration after, we’ve got you.
We’ll help you pick a spot, talk through a simple plan, and photograph it in a way that feels real, not staged.
