Dan and Mary Claire’s Notre Dame proposal was one of those moments that hits you all at once.
The nerves, the excitement, the “this is really happening” energy, and then the instant wave of joy right after. Notre Dame is already an iconic place to take photos, but proposals on campus always feel extra special.
Notre Dame is such a perfect proposal spot if you want something timeless.
The campus has classic architecture, scenic paths, and so many meaningful landmarks all within walking distance. It’s the kind of location that looks incredible in photos while still feeling calm and romantic.
Dan planned it out and kept it a surprise, and Mary Claire’s reaction was everything.
Those first few seconds after the proposal are always the best. The laughter, the happy shock, the hugs, and that “we’re engaged” energy that you can’t fake.
Once the question was asked and the yes was locked in, we jumped right into portraits while the excitement was still fresh.
After the proposal, we took a relaxed walk around campus for portraits.
We kept it easy and natural. A mix of classic Notre Dame backdrops and quieter spots that let the two of them be the focus. The best part about proposal sessions is that the emotions are already right there, so everything feels effortless.
1) Choose a spot with a little space.
Notre Dame can get busy. A little breathing room makes the moment feel more private.
2) Have a simple plan after the yes.
Even 15–30 minutes of portraits right after gives you that “fresh engaged” energy.
3) Don’t stress about posing.
The emotions are already there. We’ll guide you through everything so it feels natural.
If you’re thinking about proposing at Notre Dame and want it photographed in a way that feels natural and real, we’ve got you.
We can help you think through locations, timing, and how to keep it a surprise, then capture the moment and the just-engaged portraits right after.
