Ryan and Brandon’s Chicago engagement session felt like a full-on city day with a personal twist.
We mixed iconic Chicago spots with moments that were completely theirs. From art-filled backdrops to a festive holiday train and finishing at home on their rooftop, the session flowed like a real day together.
Starting at the MCA gave the session an instantly modern, creative feel.
Clean lines, bold architecture, and that unmistakable Chicago art energy made it a perfect place for portraits that felt intentional without being stiff. Art spaces always add depth and visual interest while still keeping the focus on the couple.
One of the highlights of the session was timing it around the holiday train.
That moment brought a little chaos, a lot of excitement, and the kind of energy you can’t stage. Quick reactions, laughter, and that unmistakable Chicago winter vibe made these moments feel extra special and very real.
We wrapped things up at their place with rooftop photos.
At-home sessions always add a layer of intimacy, and the rooftop gave us skyline views without the crowds. It was relaxed, personal, and the perfect way to close out the session after being out in the city.
Those quieter moments at the end helped balance the busier energy from earlier in the day.
This session had contrast in the best way.
Art and architecture, festive city movement, then a calm, personal finish at home. Each part added a new chapter without feeling disconnected, which is exactly what makes engagement galleries feel story-driven.
1) Mix public and personal spaces.
Iconic spots plus something meaningful to you always creates balance.
2) Expect movement.
City sessions move fast, and that’s part of the magic.
3) End somewhere calm.
Finishing at home or a quieter spot helps the session wind down naturally.
If you want engagement photos that feel personal, modern, and rooted in the city you love, Chicago is full of possibilities.
We’ll help you plan a session that flows naturally and captures both the iconic moments and the quiet ones in between.
