Emily and Austin planned their day with one big goal in mind: make it easy for everyone they love to show up and celebrate.
That is exactly why they chose Aloft South Bend. A hotel wedding made travel simple, kept the day moving smoothly, and gave them the kind of “everyone is together” energy that makes weddings feel like a reunion and a party at the same time.
And once the day started? It delivered.
Emily and Austin had guests coming in from all over the country, so picking a venue that was convenient was a no-brainer. Aloft made it easy for people to get in, settle in, and be fully present without juggling transportation all day.
Also, let’s be real, when you can get ready, get married, and party without leaving the building, it takes a ton of stress off your plate.
Emily found her dress at Simply Yours Bridal, and it was one of those “okay, yeah, this is the one” moments.
She tried on about 15 dresses, but this one hit different. She felt comfortable, everyone got emotional, and that was all the confirmation she needed.
Emily admitted she was anxious about the ceremony, all eyes on her, and especially how her dad would do up at the altar.
And then the day arrived and her dad absolutely delivered.
Emily and Austin both said one of the moments that will stick with them forever was her dad giving the homily, along with the ceremony as a whole. It was heartfelt, personal, and the kind of thing you cannot fake. It set the tone for the entire day.
Austin’s most anticipated moment was putting the ring on Emily’s finger and being pronounced husband and wife. Emily’s was seeing Austin as she walked down the aisle.
Both of those moments landed exactly how you want them to. Big feelings, happy tears, and that quiet little shift where you realize, “Oh wow, we are really doing this.”
They noted that they did not practice much. Emily was nervous. Austin was apparently cool as a cucumber.
But somehow, the first dance went way better than they expected. It was one of the day’s biggest surprises, and it turned into one of their favorite memories.
Emily’s favorite part of the day was simple: dancing the night away with the people she loves most, and her new husband.
Sound FX kept the energy up, the dance floor stayed full, and the night felt exactly like what you hope a wedding reception feels like. Loud laughter, hands in the air, and that “I do not want this to end” feeling.
And yes, the photo dash was a huge hit. Guests love it because it is fast, fun, and keeps the night moving. Couples love it because they actually get photos with everyone without spending the entire reception doing table rounds.
After the wedding, they took a 7-night cruise hitting the Bahamas, Mexico, and Honduras. A solid move for anyone who wants sunshine and a reset button after planning a wedding.
Their advice is the kind you only believe after you live it.
Do not stress about it being perfect. If you are marrying the right person, it is going to be amazing.
Also, give yourself enough time to plan. Emily’s words, not ours.
And one more thing they said that we love: take little moments that are just the two of you. Those are the ones that keep the day from feeling like it flew by in a blur.
If you are planning an Aloft South Bend wedding, lean into what makes it awesome.
Keep things close together, make it easy for guests, and let your reception be about enjoying your people instead of running all over town. Convenience does not mean “less meaningful.” It usually means more time to actually be present.
Also, if you want photos with everyone, the photo dash is your best friend.
