Jenni and Brandon’s Chicago engagement session started in the best way possible, at home.
Cozy, relaxed, and real. Then we headed out to walk around the city, grabbed a beer, ate Chicago dogs, and basically turned their session into an actual date, which is always the goal.
We love starting sessions at home because it instantly takes the pressure off.
You’re in your own space, you’re comfortable, and the photos feel like real life instead of “okay, now we’re doing engagement photos.”
Jenni and Brandon were so easy together from the start, which made those cozy at-home moments feel natural and effortless.
After the at-home portion, we headed into the city for a classic Chicago walk-around session.
This is one of our favorite ways to shoot in Chicago. We keep it moving, follow the good light, and stop at spots that feel right as we go.
No complicated shot list. Just good vibes, good light, and letting the city add texture to the story.
Somewhere in the middle of all the wandering, they stopped for a beer and Chicago dogs, and it was the perfect “this is us” moment.
We’re big fans of building sessions around real life. If you two love grabbing food together, or you have a favorite spot you always hit, bring that into the session.
It gives you something to do, it keeps the photos natural, and it turns the whole experience into a memory instead of a photoshoot.
This kind of session gives you so much variety without feeling like you’re doing the most.
At home feels personal and intimate. Chicago gives you movement and iconic city energy. A beer and food stop adds personality and those candid moments you can’t fake.
Put it all together and your gallery feels like a full story, not just a list of backdrops.
1) Start at home if you want calm, natural photos.
It’s the easiest way to warm up and get real moments right away.
2) Choose one walkable area.
One neighborhood with a few good spots beats trying to squeeze in half of Chicago.
3) Add a food or drink stop.
Coffee, beer, pizza, Chicago dogs, whatever feels like you. It makes the session personal and fun.
4) Wear shoes you can walk in.
Comfort keeps the vibe relaxed.
If you want engagement photos that feel personal, relaxed, and full of real moments, the “home + city stroll + favorite food stop” combo is such a good move.
We’ll help you plan a simple route, keep it easy, and make sure your photos feel like you two from start to finish.
