Ashley and Matthew’s engagement session was the perfect mix of classic and chaotic in the best way.
We started with more “typical” engagement outfits for timeless portraits, then they switched into outfits inspired by the movie Masterminds for the second half. And yes, their cat made a cameo, which immediately made the session even more iconic.
We kicked things off with the classic look so they’d have those clean, timeless images that work for save-the-dates, frames, and anything wedding-related.
This part of the session is all about keeping it relaxed. A little walking, a few simple prompts, and letting the real moments show up in between.
Ashley and Matthew were comfortable right away, lots of laughs, lots of easy connection, and that “we’re just hanging out together” vibe that always photographs the best.
Then came the second half and it was a full vibe shift.
They changed into outfits inspired by Masterminds, and it instantly turned the session into something that felt personal, fun, and completely them.
We love when couples do this because it makes the gallery unique. You still get the timeless portraits, but you also get the “this is who we are” photos that you’ll laugh about forever.
And then their cat joined for a few shots, which we’re always here for.
Including a pet makes your engagement photos feel even more personal, because it’s real life. Also, cats bring their own energy to a session, which usually means a few hilarious moments and a few surprisingly sweet ones too.
We kept it simple, grabbed the shots we needed, and let the cat be the tiny star of the show for a minute.
If you’re torn between “classic and timeless” and “fun and weird in the best way,” you don’t have to pick one.
A two-part session gives you a gallery that covers both sides. You get the polished images for wedding stuff, and you also get the personal, story-driven images that feel like you.
1) Start with the classic outfits.
That way you lock in the timeless portraits first, then you can go full creative mode after.
2) Bring a “pet helper” if you can.
An extra set of hands makes it easier to manage your pet between shots.
3) Keep the pet portion short and sweet.
We’ll get the photos quickly, then let your pet relax while we finish the session.
4) Don’t stress perfection.
The funny in-between moments with pets are usually the favorites.
If you want engagement photos that feel timeless and personal, with a little creative chaos sprinkled in, we’re all in.
Bring your ideas, bring your outfits, bring your pets, and we’ll help you build a session that feels like a date, not a checklist.
