Hayley and Alexandro’s Indianapolis engagement session was the kind of session that feels effortless because it’s built around real life.
We started at their home for cozy, relaxed photos, then headed out for a walk around their neighborhood to capture that “this is us on a normal day” kind of vibe.
At-home sessions are one of our favorite ways to start because the comfort level is instantly higher.
You’re in your own space, you can breathe, and you don’t have to feel like you’re “on” the second the camera comes out.
Hayley and Alexandro were relaxed right away, which made those cozy at-home moments feel natural and personal.
After the at-home portion, we took the session outside and turned it into a neighborhood stroll.
This is such an underrated engagement session idea because it doesn’t feel like you’re chasing random backdrops. It feels like your real life together.
We kept it simple. Walk, talk, stop when the light looks good, grab a few portraits, then keep moving. That flow makes everything feel relaxed and keeps the candid moments coming.
This combo gives you a gallery that feels personal and varied without feeling like you had to do a ton.
Home photos capture the cozy, intimate side of your relationship. The neighborhood walk adds movement, variety, and that casual date-night energy.
And because both locations are meaningful, the photos end up feeling like a story instead of a checklist.
1) Clean up a couple “high use” areas.
Living room, kitchen, bedroom, porch, anything you naturally hang out in. No deep clean required.
2) Choose something to do together.
Coffee, cooking, music, records, board games, whatever you actually do on a normal day.
3) End with a walk.
Movement makes portraits feel natural and gives the gallery extra variety.
If you want engagement photos that feel relaxed, personal, and full of real moments, a home + neighborhood session is such a good move.
We’ll keep it easy, guide you through everything, and make sure your gallery feels like you two from start to finish.
