Erin and Jesse’s Swan Lake Resort wedding was the kind of day that felt like one big deep breath. Cozy, traditional, and genuinely fun, with a venue that let everyone settle in for the whole weekend and actually enjoy themselves instead of rushing around.
They chose Swan Lake because it made everything easier on their guests. If the weather did what Indiana weather likes to do, everyone could still bunker down together, hang out, and keep the weekend rolling. The team at the resort was also super accommodating and helped bring their ideas to life, which always makes a Swan Lake Resort wedding feel that much smoother.
Erin’s side had the best kind of pre-ceremony energy. Disney, travel, and entertaining are the kind of topics that keep the room light and laughing, and it set the tone for the whole day.
Erin also found their dress at David’s Bridal, and the funniest part is that it was basically love at first sight. It was the first dress Erin wanted to try on, and she knew the moment it went on. She still tried on a handful of others just to confirm it, but that first one was clearly it.
Jesse’s crew brought their own vibe too. Harry Potter, board games, and college stories. That combo made the getting ready time feel easy and familiar.
They also had a few meaningful details we knew to watch for, including a memorial table at the reception and a tie square made for Jesse with a photo of his mom. Those are the kinds of touches that quietly hit the hardest during a Swan Lake Resort wedding.
Erin and Jesse wanted a fully unplugged ceremony. Not “please keep your phone away if you feel like it.” More like, “be here with us, for real.”
And honestly, it showed. When everyone is present, the energy shifts. Faces are up. Reactions are real. The whole ceremony feels more connected, and it gave Erin and Jesse exactly what they wanted, a ceremony that felt traditional, intimate, and focused.
They also planned a fun exit with bubbles and a golf cart, which is such a Swan Lake move. It fits the resort setting perfectly and makes for a playful transition from ceremony into celebration.
One of the best parts of a Swan Lake Resort wedding is the property itself. Their events manager offered golf carts to take us around to the popular photo spots, which meant portraits could feel adventurous without turning into a hike.
Erin and Jesse also asked for help with direction, so we kept things simple and natural. Clear posing, easy prompts, and plenty of space for them to just be themselves.
The end result felt romantic and cozy, with a little playful energy mixed in. That is a solid combo for a Swan Lake Resort wedding.
Their biggest anticipation was the reception. They wanted to kick back, enjoy their people, and actually be present for it. That is exactly what happened.
Erin’s memorial table was an important part of the reception setup, and there were also specific photos they wanted with people who felt like “second family.” Those requests mattered, and we built space for them.
There were a couple of little unexpected moments too. They forgot to do the bouquet toss, and there was a bit of confusion with how a slideshow would display during Erin’s dad’s song. Still, everything worked out. Nobody panicked, and the day stayed exactly what they wanted it to be, relaxed and fun.
Jesse’s personal surprise was the boudoir album, and Erin’s surprise was seeing how calm Jesse was, then watching him fully cut loose at the reception. That shift is always one of the best parts of the day.
Their favorite moments were simple. Erin loved hanging out with the women in the suite while getting ready. Jesse loved being with everyone during the reception. And the moment they both said will stick forever was soaking up time with every guest. That is the heart of it.
If you want your guests to actually relax, choose a venue where they can stay put. A weekend-style setup like Swan Lake makes it easier for people to celebrate harder, stress less, and spend real time together.
Also, if you want an unplugged ceremony, tell people clearly ahead of time. Then empower your photo team to protect the aisle and the moment. It makes a big difference.
