Some weddings feel like a big romantic build-up. Jess and Chris’ day felt like the moment everyone’s been waiting for and the energy matched their three-word description perfectly: crazy, finally, inevitable.
They chose Tying The Knot Weddings And Events in Niles because the vibe fit them. Outdoors if the weather played nice, a laid-back atmosphere, and even the possibility of a horse and carriage floating around like this was the most extra country fairytale ever.
Jess started the day at the venue with her crew, the kind of group that can go months without talking but would show up instantly if someone needed them. They were equal parts sweet, chaotic, and loyal. The energy was “resting bitch face, but we love you” and honestly, that tracks for some of the best bridal parties.
Chris was getting ready nearby with the guys, and their conversations lived in that holy trinity of golf, fishing, and football. Basically, if there’s a ball involved, they can talk about it forever.
Jess called out a few things that mattered most to her photo-wise: the table of deceased family and the moment she knew would hit hard, Chris seeing her for the first time. No first look. No sneak peek. Just straight into the ceremony like, “Good luck, buddy.”
Their ceremony was led by Chris’ grandfather, Harley Bunch, which already set the tone for something meaningful. They kept it unplugged so their people could actually be there, not watching the whole thing through a phone screen.
Jess and Chris read their own vows and included a unity sand moment, which felt like the perfect nod to “we’re building something together” without being cheesy about it.
And then they walked back out into the world with bubbles and light wands. No fancy staged exit. Just fun.
After the ceremony, we rolled right into family photos and wedding party portraits. Jess’ family lineup included her mom Karla, dad Raymond, brothers Timothy and Joshua, plus their niece Vannah as flower girl. Chris’ crew included his mom Lori, dad Chris, stepdad Brian, brother Colin, sister Kelsey, ring bearer Carter, and the kids, Oakley and Isabelle.
Then it was couple portraits, and Jess’ request for direction was basically, “Wes… you tell me.” Which is honestly the best sentence a bride can say if she wants her photos to feel natural and still look killer.
Jess and Chris planned on a long celebration with plenty happening. A packed guest count, black and rose gold with sage green accents, and a reception that was never going to be quiet.
They had a whole lineup of events on deck, including parent dances, dollar dances, the shoe game, and a bunch of speeches split throughout the night. One of the most meaningful personal touches was a speech from Jess to Chris’ son and daughter, plus a voice message to Chris before the ceremony.
If you want a wedding day to feel like family instead of just a “wedding,” that’s how you do it.
If you’re skipping a first look because you want that aisle moment, do it. Just plan for it.
Jess and Chris made it clear that Chris seeing Jess for the first time was one of the most important emotional moments of the day, so we built the flow around that. If you want the big reaction, keep the timeline clean after the ceremony so you’re not rushed and you can actually feel the moment before you’re thrown into a million photos.
