Brandi and Neil’s engagement session was the perfect mix of scenic and fun.
We started at Potato Creek State Park for that outdoorsy, relaxed vibe, then switched it up with some putt-putt to bring in a little playful competition and date-night energy.
Potato Creek is such a great engagement session location because it gives you that classic Indiana nature look without making the session feel complicated.
Trails, trees, open space, and lots of little pockets of good light make it easy to create a ton of variety while keeping the vibe relaxed.
It’s also a perfect “warm-up” location. You can settle in, walk, talk, and forget the camera exists.
We kept the first half simple. Walk, talk, stop when the light looks good, grab a few portraits, then keep moving.
Movement is the secret sauce for outdoor sessions because it keeps things from feeling stiff and makes the candid moments happen naturally in between.
Brandi and Neil were comfortable together right away, lots of laughs, lots of close moments, and that easy connection that makes portraits feel effortless.
Then we switched gears and brought in the fun.
Ending with putt-putt is such a good move because it gives you built-in interaction. You’re moving, reacting, laughing, and casually talking trash in the best way.
It’s the kind of activity that makes your engagement session feel like a real date, which is always the goal.
Potato Creek gave them timeless, scenic portraits. Putt-putt added personality and playful energy.
That mix gives you a gallery that feels full and varied without ever feeling random. It tells a fuller story of who you are together.
1) Two locations is the sweet spot.
One scenic location, then one activity, perfect balance of variety and flow.
2) Consider a second outfit.
One look for the park, one for putt-putt, it helps the gallery feel extra complete.
3) Embrace the competition.
Putt-putt is supposed to be goofy. The laughs and reactions are the best part.
If you want engagement photos that feel relaxed, fun, and actually represent your relationship, this kind of session is such a great option.
Bring us your favorite places, your hobbies, your go-to date night spots, and we’ll help you turn it into a session that feels like you from start to finish.
