Carlee and Jaxan’s engagement session at Oakwood Farms had that classic “this place means something to us” kind of vibe.
A family farm session is always special because it instantly feels personal. It’s familiar, it’s comfortable, and it tells your story in a way no random location ever could.
Oakwood Farms gave us the best kind of backdrop, simple, natural, and full of character.
Open fields, rustic textures, and that quiet countryside feel that lets you slow down and focus on each other. Private property sessions are great because there’s no pressure to rush, no crowds, and plenty of space to just be yourselves.
We moved around the property to find a variety of looks while keeping known, familiar spots as the anchor.
That’s what makes a farm session so strong. You can get clean, scenic portraits in open space, then mix in rustic details that add texture and story. The result is a gallery that feels timeless, but also completely unique to them.
When you’re photographed somewhere you actually have a connection to, everything relaxes.
You’re not trying to fit into the vibe of a trendy spot. You’re just showing up as yourselves in a place that already feels like home. That’s why these sessions tend to feel more natural and personal from the first few minutes.
1) Plan for a little walking.
Farm sessions are best when we can explore a few different areas.
2) Choose outfits that fit the setting.
Neutral tones, denim, boots, and simple layers always photograph beautifully in the countryside.
3) Bring one personal detail if you want.
A blanket, a drink, or something you’d normally have on a laid-back evening together can add a little extra story without feeling like a prop.
If you have a family farm, a cabin, a lake house, or any place that feels meaningful to you, it can be an incredible spot for your engagement session.
We’ll help plan the flow, keep it relaxed, and capture photos that feel honest and personal from start to finish.
