Paige and Ryan’s Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens wedding had the kind of energy you only get when a couple has been waiting a long time for this day, and they finally get to throw the party they’ve been picturing for years.
The vibe was “long-awaited, festive, and camaraderie,” and that is not an exaggeration. This was a wedding built around friendship, inside jokes, and a whole lot of love, all set inside one of the most iconic historic estates in Ohio.
Everyone started the day together at the Norton Farmhouse Airbnb, which is always a win because it keeps the energy connected right from the jump.
Paige’s side brought the performing arts and event management vibes. Think theater stories, music talk, and the kind of college memories that never get old no matter how reminder-you-are.
Ryan’s side came in with the nerdy gold. Board games, DnD, video games, and years of friendship packed into one room. Basically, two groups that could not be more different on paper, and yet somehow match perfectly when you put them together at a wedding.
Paige and Ryan picked Stan Hywet because the gardens are genuinely gorgeous and the estate has that historic, timeless look that makes everything feel elevated without being stuffy.
And for portraits, this place is stacked. From the estate grounds to the classic walkways and those tucked-away spots that feel like a movie set, there’s no shortage of beautiful backdrops. It’s one of those venues where you can wander for ten minutes and find three new “oh damn” photo spots.
Their ceremony wasn’t just a “stand here, say vows, kiss, done” kind of moment. They intentionally built in meaningful traditions that made it feel personal.
They included a ring warming ceremony, which is one of our favorite ways to involve guests without it feeling like a production. It’s simple, it’s intimate, and it adds a layer of connection that people actually remember.
They also incorporated glass breaking, which adds that punch of symbolism and celebration all at once. The sound, the reaction, the moment right after, it’s a vibe.
And yes, they went unplugged. Guests fully present, eyes up, hearts in it. That always hits different.
Paige and Ryan wanted a decent amount of direction, which is honestly the best of both worlds. Natural photos do not mean “no guidance.” It means you get to be yourselves, but with someone helping you look good while you do it.
Between the Airbnb spots and the estate grounds, their portraits had a mix of playful, cozy, romantic, and “we’re taking this seriously for two seconds” energy.
And with a wedding party full of longtime friends, those group photos were less “pose and smile” and more “try not to laugh while someone brings up a story from five years ago.”
The reception flowed right into the Carriage House with that classic garden-party feel. Dusty blue tones, spring and summer florals, and a room full of people who clearly showed up ready to celebrate.
They had cake, toasts, dancing, the whole thing.
But the true hero moment?
They ditched the traditional bouquet and garter toss and turned it into a t-shirt toss instead.
Not just any shirts either. Shirts with their faces on them.
It’s ridiculous in the best way, and it tells you everything you need to know about Paige and Ryan. Fun first, memories always, and nobody taking themselves too seriously.
Paige and Ryan were super thoughtful about family combinations and boundaries, and that matters more than people realize.
If there’s divorce, remarriage, or “these two people should not be in the same photo,” tell your photo team ahead of time. It keeps family photos calm, fast, and drama-free.
Also, if someone in the family feels awkward on camera, that’s normal. A little encouragement, a little direction, and a few quick wins early on makes a huge difference. We’ve got you.
