Some weddings are big and loud and packed wall-to-wall.
And some are intentional in the best way, slower, more intimate, and so deeply “them” that you can feel it in every corner of the day.
Katrina and Matt’s wedding was that.
They chose the Solomon Fowler Mansion because they wanted a place that felt like a full weekend. A venue where you can stay on-site with a few of your favorite people, breathe a little, and actually soak it in. The second they toured it, they fell in love and booked it immediately. Honestly, we get it. The style, the options, the vibe, it’s a dream.
The Dress That Broke All The “Rules” (In The Best Way)
Katrina found her dress at Luxe Redux Bridal in Indianapolis, and it ended up being the exact opposite of what she thought she wanted.
She went in thinking “no bright white, nothing plain, no train,” and walked out with a dress that was all of those things because it just felt right. Sometimes the one you swear you won’t pick is the one that wins instantly.
The Nerves That Show Up Before Something Big
Katrina’s biggest anxiety was having to ask people for help. She wanted everyone there to enjoy the day, not feel like they were being put to work.
If you’re reading that like “yep, that’s me,” just know this. The people who love you actually want to show up for you. This wedding proved it in the most beautiful way.
The Moment She Was Waiting For
Katrina told us the thing she looked forward to most was seeing Matt’s face when she walked down the aisle.
And then she started sobbing.
Which, same. That moment hits different when it’s real.
A Surprise That Made The Whole Room Feel Bigger
One of the sweetest surprises of the day was something their family and friends organized behind the scenes.
They collected cards from dozens of people who would have been there if circumstances allowed. It was one of those gifts that reminds you how loved you are, even when the guest list is smaller than your heart would prefer.
Finn, The Dog, The Icon
Finn was a huge part of the day, which automatically makes this wedding elite.
Katrina also admitted something that made us laugh. Finn decided Rick, our associate photographer, was his least favorite person of the day.
Rick handled it like a champ. Patient, calm, and still somehow getting the photos while earning side-eye from a protective pup. That’s pro-level energy.
The Most “Them” Details
This wedding was full of personal touches that felt thoughtful without feeling overdone.
They leaned into moody, antique-inspired details that matched the mansion and barn perfectly. Katrina and Matt love antiquing together, so they used her mom’s antique china and mismatched glasses they found along the way.
Katrina’s mom made the flowers and included a piece of jewelry from each of Katrina’s grandmothers in the designs, which is such a meaningful way to carry family with you.
Matt is obsessed with candles, so there were candles everywhere setting the mood. There were also bells from Katrina’s mom’s bell collection on every table so guests could ring them, plus handmade paper chains that they will be able to reuse for future birthdays and anniversaries.
Also, Katrina’s parents built them a wedding arch they can now use in their backyard. That is the kind of keepsake that keeps paying emotional dividends.
A Gift Before The First Look (That Was Way Too Good)
Katrina did not expect Matt to have time to pull off something thoughtful before the first look.
He did anyway.
Matt gave her a custom 3D viewfinder filled with photos from their relationship. It was meaningful in that simple, gut-punch way, like, “oh yeah, this is my person.”
An Intimate Day, Filled With Real Moments
When Katrina and Matt look back, they don’t have one single favorite moment. It’s basically all of it.
The first look. The first dance. The way the day felt beautiful and special and intimate.
They also said it went way too fast, which is the most accurate wedding review of all time.
They were in a season where “health stuff” had been heavy leading into the wedding, and it made the good moments feel even more worth celebrating. The whole day felt like a deep breath, and a reminder that love still shows up strong.
