Madi and Luke’s Journeyman Distillery Three Oaks wedding had that perfect mix of “chill hanging with our favorite people” and “okay yeah this is a party now.” It was warm, fun, family-forward, and built for a night where the laughs keep rolling and the dance floor stays busy.
They brought in those latte-brown and moody-blue vibes (in the best way), kept everything centered at Journeyman, and leaned into what they love most, good food, good drinks, and the kind of energy that makes you forget to check your phone.
One of the best parts of this day was how streamlined it felt. Madi and Luke both got ready onsite at Journeyman, which meant everything stayed simple and smooth. No bouncing around to different locations, no rushing a carload of people across town, just a steady pace and more time for the actual moments.
Their crew was exactly what you want around you on a wedding day too. Madi’s side had that “board games and food can turn into a full conversation for hours” vibe, and Luke’s side was basically a rotating mix of video games, sports talk, and jokes that clearly have history behind them.
Madi and Luke chose to do a first look, and it set the tone for the rest of the day. It gave them a pocket of time to breathe, settle in, and actually take in the fact that this was happening. If you ever wonder whether a first look is “worth it,” this is the kind of day that answers that question fast.
They also wanted some direction for photos, which we love, because it means you get natural moments without the awkward “what do I do with my hands” spiral. We guide hard, keep it simple, and let you be yourselves in between.
Journeyman is such a solid spot for an indoor ceremony because it still feels big and elevated, without feeling stiff. It held the guest count beautifully, and the whole ceremony felt clean, intentional, and easy to stay present in.
From there, everything flowed right into cocktail hour, and you could feel the energy shift into celebration mode almost immediately.
Madi and Luke were open to photo ideas and were totally cool keeping everything at the venue, and honestly, Journeyman makes that an easy win. Staying onsite means you keep your timeline flexible, you get more variety than you expect, and you are not wasting your best light in the car.
Between the textures, the architecture, and the little pockets of space that feel totally different from each other, you can build a whole gallery without ever leaving the property.
Once the reception kicked off, it was exactly what Madi and Luke described in three words: fun, family, party. Speeches brought the love, the parent dances hit the feelings, and then the night took off.
Also, let’s talk about the donut situation, because Journeyman donuts deserve their own moment. It’s such a fun alternative to the standard dessert table, and it fits the whole vibe of the venue. Guests actually get excited about it, and it keeps the night feeling playful instead of overly formal.
If you’ve got a bigger guest count and you want to actually enjoy cocktail hour, appoint one person from each side of the family who knows everyone and is not afraid to loudly say names. That one simple move keeps family photos moving, keeps you relaxed, and gets you back to the party faster.
Also, if you are unsure about photo locations around the venue, that’s normal. A lot of couples feel that way at first. The best plan is to trust the venue, stay onsite, and let us guide you through spots that match your style and your timeline.
