Some weddings feel like a formal production. This St Patrick Park wedding felt like a hangout with your favorite people. Erin and Larry wanted open space, easy energy, and a day where everyone stayed together. They got exactly that, and then some.
Rick, one of our associate photographers, captured this whole day with our same WLS approach. He stayed close for the real stuff, and he made portraits feel natural. The vibe stayed relaxed from start to finish, even with a full guest list.
Erin started the morning at the Hilton Garden Inn in South Bend. Her group brought the kind of energy that can go anywhere. They could talk about anything, and they meant it. Erin also had a few priorities that mattered most. She wanted the memorial table photographed, and she wanted a first look with her mom.
Larry got ready at St. Patrick’s County Park, which set the tone early. His people came ready with “I Think You Should Leave” quotes and sports talk. That combination alone tells you how the day was going to go. It felt casual, honest, and full of laughter.
Erin and Larry chose a first look, and it fit their day perfectly. They saw each other before guests arrived, and they got a quiet moment together. The park gave them space to breathe, move around, and stay present. Rick guided them when needed, and he let the natural moments lead.
They also kept attire casual, which helped everything feel even more like them. No stiff posing. No forced vibes. Just a couple who wanted to enjoy the day.
Their ceremony took place outside at St. Patrick’s County Park. Erin and Larry leaned into an unplugged ceremony, so guests stayed locked in. They also chose a receiving line, which made space for hugs and real hellos. That choice matched their “everyone together” goal.
They described their day as nontraditional, and you could feel it. The ceremony still hit emotionally, but it never felt rigid. It felt warm, welcoming, and grounded in their people. That is the magic of a St Patrick Park wedding done right.
Cocktail hour started at 3:00pm, and they packed it with the good stuff. Erin and Larry planned their first dance during cocktail hour, which kept the timeline smooth. They also included the cake cutting and any speeches in that same window. That structure let the reception stay simple later.
Their first dance song was “Book of Love” by Peter Gabriel, and it fit their vibe perfectly. It felt tender, a little nostalgic, and fully them. Then they moved right into celebrating with everyone outside.
Reception time started at 4:00pm, and dinner rolled right in. Guests stayed comfortable, and nobody had to travel anywhere. The park setting kept things open, which helped the crowd feel connected. Erin and Larry chose colors like brown, orange, peach, teal, and navy. Those tones played nicely with the natural scenery.
Then came the treat everyone remembered. At 6:30pm, Ice Cream on Wheels pulled up and instantly became the hero. It was fun, simple, and exactly the kind of surprise that fits a St Patrick Park wedding. People grabbed ice cream, wandered the grounds, and soaked up the evening.
Erin and Larry focused on togetherness, not perfection. They built a timeline that supported conversation, movement, and genuine moments. They made space for memorial details, while keeping the day upbeat. They also trusted their vendors, and that choice always pays off.
If you want your St Patrick Park wedding to feel relaxed, do what they did. Pick a setting with room to breathe. Plan big moments early, so the rest feels easy. Then bring in something fun, like an ice cream truck, and let your people do the rest.
