Cori and Sam’s engagement session at Potato Creek State Park was not your “stand here and smile” kind of day.
This one was fun, quirky, and had that Masterminds-style energy where you can tell these two are in on the joke together. We leaned into the weird, kept it playful, and let the session feel like their kind of adventure.
Potato Creek is always a solid spot for engagement photos because it gives you a ton of variety without overthinking it.
Trails, trees, open pockets of light, and plenty of space to move around. But what made this session stand out was the vibe Cori and Sam brought. Equal parts sweet and chaotic, in the best way.
If you’ve seen Masterminds, you know the vibe.
A little over-the-top, a little ridiculous, and somehow still adorable. That was the inspiration for parts of this session. Not a literal reenactment, more like a playful “we’re doing something different and we don’t care if it’s goofy” kind of energy.
The result was a gallery that felt like an inside joke you can actually hang on your wall.
We built the session around movement and interaction instead of stiff posing.
Walking the trails, letting them banter, setting up a few prompts that sparked genuine reactions, and capturing the in-between moments that always end up being the favorites. When couples are willing to lean into the fun, the photos get way more personal.
1) Pick a theme that fits you.
It can be inspired by a movie, a shared hobby, or just your humor as a couple. The key is that it feels natural for you two.
2) Commit to the bit.
The more you lean in, the better the photos get. Half-committing is the only way to make it awkward.
3) Choose a location with space.
Parks like Potato Creek give you room to play, move, and reset without feeling watched.
If you want engagement photos that feel like you, not like everyone else, this is your sign.
Bring the weird idea, the inside joke, the theme, the energy. We’ll help shape it into a session that’s fun now and still looks amazing years from now.
