Lauren and Steven’s wedding day at The Grand in Crown Point felt like a deep breath in the middle of a chaotic season. Lauren got ready in the bridal suite on the second floor of the Historic Crown Point Courthouse, with the kind of atmosphere that makes everything feel elevated without trying too hard. Steven and the guys were just upstairs in the groom suite, which meant the whole “getting ready” part stayed smooth and close. No bouncing between locations, no chaos commute, just calm pockets of time to settle in.

A First Look Before The Party Kicked Off
They planned for a first look, which made total sense for the kind of day they wanted. Simple, efficient, and focused on actually enjoying the night. With everything happening in and around the courthouse and The Grand, it also kept the flow easy. Their ceremony was indoors at The Grand, and they went unplugged, which always shifts the whole vibe in the best way. People look up. They react in real time. It feels more intimate, even with a full room. They also had two officiants, Jason and Kasey Rothchild, which gave the ceremony its own unique rhythm and personality.
Timeless Details With A Soft, Bold Color Palette
Lauren and Steven’s colors were burgundy, dusty rose/quartz, black, and gold. That combo plays so well with the historic feel of the building. It keeps things romantic without being overly delicate, and it still feels modern and clean.
They also loved that The Grand has history while still feeling elegant and timeless, and that’s exactly what showed up in the photos. It’s one of those venues where the backdrop does a lot of the work for you.
Cocktail Hour, A Private Sunset Breather, And Then Full Party Mode
After the ceremony, the night flowed straight into cocktail hour and reception energy, with time carved out for a quick private moment and sunset photos. That little breather is underrated. It’s a reset button. You get to look at each other and go, “Okay, we’re married,” and then you’re ready to jump back in.
From there, it was exactly what they described in three words: simple, fun, party. A grand entrance, apps, dinner, toasts, and then the first dance to Wanna Grow Old With You by Adam Sandler, which is both adorable and a perfect “this is us” kind of choice. After that, the dance floor opened up and the night kept rolling with parent dances, cake cutting, and all the classic reception chaos in the best way.
Family Dynamics, Handled With Care
Lauren gave a helpful heads-up on some family dynamics, and we always appreciate that. When there are relationships that are tense, sensitive, or just complicated, the goal is simple: keep things respectful, keep things moving, and make sure the couple doesn’t have to manage any of it.
