Kinsley and Alex’s Iceland elopement was basically a greatest-hits album of everything Iceland does best. Big landscapes, moody skies, a little wind trying to bully us, and moments that felt quiet in the middle of all that chaos.
We kept it moving through a handful of spots so every part of the day had its own vibe, and it never once felt like we were just “checking locations off a list.” It felt like an adventure that happened to include getting married.
The black sand beaches always show up like they have something to prove. Dark shoreline, crashing waves, and that contrast that makes everything feel dramatic right out of the gate. Kinsley and Alex were fully in it, laughing, holding on to each other, and rolling with whatever the weather wanted to throw at them.
Then we went high. Mountain-top Iceland hits different because everything opens up and suddenly you can see forever. The wind usually has opinions up there, but it’s worth it. The views make everything feel epic without needing any extra “look how epic we are” energy. It just is.
Krýsuvík Church was such a cool shift in mood. It’s simple, classic, and quietly iconic. The kind of place that makes you slow down for a second, catch your breath, and soak it in. It gave the day this calm little pause between the wild coastline and the next adventure.
Hella Cave is one of those places that instantly feels intimate. You step inside and the sound changes, the light changes, and suddenly it’s all texture and shadows and closeness. It’s the perfect contrast to the wide-open Iceland landscapes.
And then the horses. Seeing wild horses running out there feels unreal, like you accidentally walked into a movie scene. We kept it respectful and gave them space, but having that moment as part of their story was so freaking special. It’s one of those memories that sticks, even after the photos are delivered.
If you want an elopement day that feels like an actual experience, pick locations that give you variety. Beach, height, texture, something iconic, and one “this only happens here” moment (like wild horses). That mix keeps the day moving without making it feel rushed.
