When it comes to weddings, sometimes less really is more. For Courtney and Cliff, their celebration at Tippecanoe Place wasn’t about grand entrances or over-the-top details—it was about time. Time spent with the people who mattered most, in a space that felt just right.
Finding a venue for a small wedding can be weirdly tricky, but Tippecanoe Place ended up being a perfect match. With its historic charm and architectural detail, it had just the right amount of character to make the day feel elegant without needing to dress it up too much. While the couple had a few minor hiccups with the experience, the space itself made for a stunning backdrop, especially for their first look.
Courtney found her Maggie Sottero gown at Simply Yours in Granger. While she had a general idea of what she wanted, it took a few tries to land on the one. But when she did it was everything. A timeless look that felt like her from the moment she put it on.
As for the rest? The day was dotted with small, personal moments that made it unforgettable: two flower girls doing their own thing during the processional, a first look that melted everyone’s hearts, and the kind of laughter that only comes when you’re surrounded by your ride-or-dies.
With only 35 guests in attendance, Courtney and Cliff were able to actually spend time with everyone. No rushing. No crowd control. Just chill vibes and a chance to enjoy the company of the people they love most.
They both agreed that cocktail hour took the win as their favorite part of the entire day. Casual convos. Clinks of glasses. Smiles all around. That’s what it’s all about.
Sure, there were a couple of unexpected surprises like music playing during the ceremony that wasn’t planned but honestly, nothing could shake the joy. If there’s one thing they would’ve changed, it would’ve been having a day-of coordinator just for them. Pro tip for future couples: having someone who’s there just to look out for you can make a world of difference.
Courtney and Cliff kept it real: “Have a small wedding.” Fewer people = less stress. Also? Try to enjoy the process, even when it feels like too much. And definitely make time for a first look it was the moment that stuck with them the most.
They kept it simple and local like grabbing their cake from Martin’s Bakery, a personal favorite, and hiring Earl Smith as their officiant after reading glowing reviews. Earl totally lived up to the hype and brought calm energy to the ceremony, which helped set the tone for everything that followed.
Shoutout to Rick, who not only captured the day beautifully, but also made everyone feel super comfortable in front of the camera (even when they felt awkward). He jumped between locations, helped with posing, and even sat with friends during dinner earning rave reviews from the guests.
