There’s something magical about getting married somewhere that already feels like home. For Liz and Patrick, their dream venue wasn’t a ballroom or a vineyard it was his parents’ backyard. Surrounded by nature, meaningful design choices, and the people who matter most, their wedding day felt personal from start to finish.
Nestled on four acres just outside South Bend, the property offered the best of both worlds: open-air vibes with indoor comfort. The furniture pods scattered across the lawn gave guests space to lounge and connect, while the surrounding trees and cozy lighting turned a simple space into something pretty damn stunning.
Liz spent her fair share of time on Pinterest (because, let’s be real, we all do), pulling ideas to help define the vibe. But the real magic happened in the execution. Every part of their day felt intentional from the food vendors that brought serious flavor, to the custom bar setup by Sharveese Mixology, to the way family and friends helped pull it all together.
Liz found her gown at Vow’d a last-of-its-line, on-sale stunner that she didn’t even know was the one until she slipped it on. After trying a few others, she came back to that first dress. Sometimes you just know.
While the whole day was incredible, both Liz and Patrick agreed: the ceremony was the moment. It was raw, intentional, and packed with emotion. The kind of vows that make your friends laugh and your parents tear up. The kind of moment you want to hit replay on for the rest of your life.
Also, quick shoutout to whoever saved the day mid-dinner when the gin ran out—y’all are the real MVPs.
There weren’t any crazy surprises (unless you count the unexpected gin shortage), but what stood out were the little things:
The vendor team that kept everything running smooth
The family-style food and homegrown florals
The amazing work by Rick from Westley Leon Studios capturing real moments, not just staged ones
By the end of the night, Liz and Patrick were both feeling full of tacos, drinks, and all the love in the world.
“This is one of the biggest things you’ll do together so let it reveal who you are as a couple,” Liz shared. Whether it’s deciding to DIY your florals or getting married on your family’s land, your choices should feel like you.
And if you can: slow down and enjoy it.
