When a couple tells you they met working inside the coolers at Meijer… you already know their wedding’s going to have character. For Liz and Matt, their wedding day wasn’t just about saying “I do” it was about embracing every piece of their story, from a church filled with laughter and loved ones to a stop at Meijer’s dairy department to relive the moment where it all began.
Their day was a mix of fun, tradition, and unapologetically being themselves with just enough sass and sarcasm to keep things light-hearted all the way through.
We started the day at Faith Church in Munster, where both Liz and Matt got ready on-site. Liz and her crew were cracking jokes and throwing out one-liners that would make The Office proud. Think “that’s what she said” energy on full volume.
Meanwhile, Matt’s party had their own vibe going equal parts excitement and dread about getting dressed up, but totally here for the day.
Liz had her “something old, new, borrowed, blue, and a sixpence in her shoe” ready to go. And yes, we made sure it all got captured before heading to the chapel.
Their ceremony, led by Pastor Charlie Contreras, was warm, joyful, and full of meaningful moments. The stained-glass-lit sanctuary was the perfect backdrop for vows, tears, and smiles as Liz and Matt officially became husband and wife.
As guests exited the church, they were greeted with a bubble exit under the overhang, and the newlyweds made a quick getaway for some post-ceremony adventures before portraits.
After the ceremony, we stopped at a small park across from the church with a gazebo for wedding party photos and then came the real surprise.
Liz and Matt took us to Meijer, where they first met stocking coolers. We walked into the dairy section in full wedding attire and snapped photos among the milk and eggs. It was hilarious, sweet, and so very them.
Next, we hit downtown Highland for a quick mural session and a few more golden hour shots before making our way to Gino’s Banquets for the reception.
The reception at Gino’s Banquets kicked off with heartfelt entrances, speeches that had everyone both laughing and holding back tears, and a dinner that gave guests a chance to catch their breath before the dance floor lit up.
The first dance was to Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts, and then came parent dances.
And once the formalities wrapped, the dance floor stayed alive the rest of the night.
From their custom church backdrop to the Meijer aisle moment, Liz and Matt filled their day with memories and meaning. It wasn’t about putting on a show—it was about celebrating their journey, their way.
Whether it was Matt’s “something up his sleeve” or the nonstop jokes from the bridal party, this wedding was all heart, all fall, and all fun.
