April and Connor planned the kind of wedding day that feels easy to enjoy. Fall colors, warm tones, a solid crew of their favorite people, and a venue that gives you a ton of variety without needing to bounce all over the place.
Their day happened at Coppes Commons Event Center in Nappanee, Indiana. If you love the idea of one location for getting ready, ceremony, and reception, this spot makes it simple, and it photographs so dang well.
These two have been together for four years, and their story starts in a very real-world way. They worked at Kroger together, including during the pandemic. So yeah, they’ve already lived through a level of “we can handle anything together.”
They got engaged in November when Connor took April out to a pond near where they live. April had a feeling it was coming, but that does not make it any less sweet. Sometimes knowing makes it better, because you get to soak in every second on purpose.
The vision was simple and strong. A fall wedding with warm tones and a laid-back vibe, but still with portraits that feel polished and timeless.
April and Connor were clear about wanting really nice portraits, the kind you actually want to print big. The good news is that Coppes Commons delivers a ton of clean backdrops, great light, and fun textures, so you can get that “wow” variety without overcomplicating anything.
One of the coolest parts about Coppes Commons is how much visual variety you get in one area. The building has that classic, historic character, and outside you’ve got murals that add color and personality fast.
If you’re the kind of couple who wants portraits that are a mix of classic and fun, this venue is basically built for it.
April and Connor included vows in their ceremony, which always brings the room together in the best way. You can feel the shift when a couple makes it personal. The guests lean in. The couple gets a little teary. Everybody remembers why they showed up in the first place.
It’s one of those moments where the day stops being “wedding schedule” and turns into something real.
They wanted nice portraits, so we made sure they got them, without turning their wedding into a never-ending photoshoot.
That’s always our goal. Clean, flattering direction. A little space to breathe. And portraits that look like you, not like you got dropped into a random pose you’d never do in real life.
And because it’s Coppes Commons, we could mix in mural shots, classic venue textures, and softer, more romantic spots without needing to travel anywhere.
April and Connor are a perfect blend of creative and cozy. They love gaming together, and April also loves to paint.
And here’s a detail that’s just cool as hell. April has a degree in music and sings for the orchestra. So yes, she’s creative in multiple directions, and you can feel that kind of passion show up in how someone carries themselves on a day like this.
Once the entrances hit and the first dance happened, the night had that “okay, we’re officially celebrating now” spark.
They mixed in the best reception staples, speeches, cake, family dances, and then they kept things moving with a table dash.
If you want guest photos without losing an hour of your reception, a table dash is one of the easiest wins. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it gets you back to the dance floor where you belong.
They also stepped out for a quick sunset moment, which is always worth it. Not because you need a million golden hour photos, but because it gives you a tiny reset in the middle of the night.
A couple quiet minutes together, a few killer portraits, then back inside to keep the party rolling.
If you care about portraits, pick a venue that gives you variety without needing travel time. Coppes Commons is great for this because you can get classic, artsy, and colorful looks all within a short walk.
More portrait options, less timeline stress. That’s the sweet spot.
