Elizabeth and Jonathan’s engagement session was the perfect mix of outdoorsy and personal.
We started at Deep River County Park for bridge walks and classic portraits in front of a brick building, then headed back to their place for cozy at-home photos with a campfire and a couple beers.
Deep River County Park is a solid engagement session spot when you want nature, texture, and variety all in one place.
It’s easy to move around, find good light, and get a mix of wide scenic shots and tighter, more classic portraits.
Elizabeth and Jonathan wanted a session that felt relaxed and real, and this location fit that vibe perfectly.
We started with a walk on the bridge, which is always a favorite for couples who want their photos to feel natural.
Walking is the cheat code. You’re moving, you’re talking, and you’re naturally staying close, which makes the photos feel like you two instead of a pose.
We grabbed a mix of wide shots that showed the setting, plus closer moments where the connection was the whole point.
Then we shifted to the brick building for a totally different look.
Brick adds that clean, timeless texture that works for basically any season. It’s simple, it’s classic, and it keeps the focus right on the couple.
This was where we got some of those frame-worthy portraits that feel polished without feeling stiff.
After the park, we headed back to their home and ended the session the best way.
A campfire, a couple beers, and that laid-back “this is our normal life” vibe that you can’t fake in photos.
Lifestyle shots at home are such a good way to round out a session because they add meaning. It’s not just a pretty backdrop, it’s part of your story.
1) Mix one outdoor location with something personal.
The park gives you variety and scenery, home gives you your real-life story.
2) Think “activities,” not poses for home.
Campfire, drinks, cooking, music, playing cards, anything you’d actually do together makes the photos feel effortless.
3) Keep the flow relaxed.
A session like this works best when it feels like a date and not a checklist.
If you want engagement photos that have a little adventure and a lot of personality, this park + home combo is such a great move.
We’ll help you plan it, keep it easy, and make sure your gallery feels like you two from start to finish.
